I came up with this idea right before giving birth to my third baby girl. That pregnancy has been a little more difficult since I had to chase after my two older girls and have not had as much time to myself for the rest that is needed. I am sure that I have focused tons on my needs and demanded more from my sweet husband. He has been great going above and beyond in order for me to get that extra rest I’ve needed.
Since birth and pregnancy are mostly about the mom and new baby, I was thinking that he needed a special treat. I decided to make him a fun little goodie basket to take to the hospital. I’m sure the guy in your life would love it too .
Here’s what you will need:
- His favorite treats
- A basket big enough for all your treats
- Fun little labels to write love/thank you notes on (I used the Artisan Labels from Creativity by Crystal)
My hubby is always bored at the hospital and sometimes gets hungry. Now every hospital I have delivered at has had a fun little goodie room for the dad’s waiting, but my hubby feels awkward going in to get himself a treat. I wanted him to have all the fun treats he loves right in the room with us!
So here goes. Pretty simple stuff. Just go find all the fun treats your hubby loves. Mine loves crackers, Coke, beef jerky, Junior Mints, Red Vines, and Nut Rolls. I tried to think of something clever to add to each note that attached to the treat. Some ended up with me just telling him how much I loved and appreciated him. I made sure to include examples of things I had noticed he had been doing. (The best way to keep them doing what you want is to let them know how much you appreciate it. Just a small tip from me!)
Give the basket to The New Daddy and watch him smile. Remember ladies, you don’t have to wait for a huge moment like having a baby to let the guy in your life know that you love and appreciate him. You could make this basket any time for any reason.
xoxo–Becky

Except for the fact I’m working at my resolve to eat better and the Cokes aren’t diet, this would be a perfect teacher gift!
What a thoughtful wife you are. Blessings on your third child, I will pray all goes well!

I really like this idea too. I hope my wife reads this (not the comment)…

I saw that Chod. It’s out of the closet now–you read Crafting Chicks!

ha ha ha 🙂 You two are silly and fun 🙂

Maybe Chod could use his Crafting Chicks knowledge and whip up a little basket for his friend, Chris. Complete with the love notes. That would be cute. (Congrats to Becky and family! The idea is really great and I’m sure my husband would appreciate it in just a few short weeks!)

I love this. I’m just entering my 3rd trimester with my 2nd girl…and I totally learned that this is what my hubby needs for this birth to go more smoothly. I felt like he was starving, even though he says he wasn’t. Love the cute idea!

That is a pretty neat idea! Maybe if we decide to have baby #4 I will have to use this idea!!! It would be great to if your having a sibling in the room. My 8 yr old was in the room when we had our last child and she would have felt pretty special wtih this basket as well!!

That’s such a sweet idea. I actually packed a ton of snacks for my hubby to bring to the hospital (but I didn’t put them in a basket with cute notes on them), and he didn’t eat any of it! The snacks were for me, too, after I gave birth…but I ended up having a c-section and I wasn’t allowed to eat any of it 🙁 Oh well.

Great idea. I always pack along snacks for us to have together too (since it’s one of those rare moments we have alone…being in the hospital is kinda like a date!). But I never thought to add the little notes. Perfect since I have a few more weeks to go! Thanks for the idea.

Oh I LOVE this idea! But I think I will have to throw in a few treats for me too! (Minus the thank you note of course!) I am about 4 weeks away from having baby girl #5! I think by now he could really appreciate a thank you treat basket! Poor guy! 🙂

Now I feel like a “great” wife…You would’ve thought I would’ve done something nice or even extraordinary like this basket for my husband after having delivered 3 times….That’s it I’m getting pregnant again 🙂
Thank you for sharing how AMAZING you are!!

A friend of mine is about due to have her 3rd (a girl too!) and she asked me for ideas on something she could do for her hubby! This post gave just the perfect resource for me to share with her! Thank you so much for the wonderful idea – and for being an example of a wife who makes her hubby a priority. That is so inspiring. 🙂

I am two months away from having our second child. I packed snacks for my hubby the last hospital visit, but this idea is really creative! I would love to do this for him this time around. Thanks for sharing and congratulations!!!

Oh, SO cute!!! I’m due in 6 weeks and am for sure doing this for my husband! This is our first baby together, but seventh child total (2nd marriage for both of us). I love this idea!!! Congrats on your new baby! 🙂

This is such a sweet idea! I’ll bet he loved it!! It’s funny that this looks like
*exactly* what I would’ve packed for my hubzy too – just switching out the Coke for Dt. Pepsi though. 😉
Since we were done with our 5th little one a year and a half ago though, I’ll just have to find another use for the basket – like an “every day appreciation” basket or “teacher’s gift” or something – it’s so versatile! Thanks for the great idea! =)
