EPIC Review and Giveaway

Although I’ve been obsessed with letterpress for years (more years than I’ve been married in fact), I’ve never actually had a chance to try it. Back in the day a roommate and I had big plans of constructing our own press, and I still have a file full of different plan designs and sources for plates. But soon I got married and she moved to England and that dream was put on hold. So when Lifestyle Crafts sent an Epic our way I was giddy!

It was like Christmas at our house and my 5 year old could sense it. After using the unopened box as a bribe throughout the morning I let him pull it out and play with it as soon as the little brother was down for a nap.

He thought mixing colors and using the brayer was the best. We made a huge mess practicing and quickly learned that just a little bit of ink is all it really takes to work!

I loved the texture that a blind (no ink) press creates.

We even tried out the die cut system, although I think I’ll stick to my Silhouette for my cutting needs. I really love the freedom of changing sizes and shapes and not being limited to a kit– and that is the only complaint I have with the Epic. I’m used to easily changing sizes and fonts and designs in this digital world we live. I suppose that is why letterpress is an art! You can order custom plates of your own design from Lifestyle Crafts, which really make the possibilities of the L Letterpress endless!

And Lifestyle Crafts wants to give a Crafting Chicks reader an Epic Combo Kitof their own!! …come on, you knew it was coming!

That’s everything you need to get started with letterpressing and die cutting!

The only problem is no letters are exactly the same and I cannot get them any smaller than 1 inch. I would love to be able to make cards especially thank you cards. But the possibilities would be endless. I’m crossing my fingers that I win!
