Science Camp

You guys we only have 5 weeks until school starts! My oldest will be starting kindergarten this year, so it is the first year that our summer will really end when school starts (boo). And our summer fun chart shows we still have a lot to do before summer is over! Time to get crackin.

Science Camp was a hit last year, and so I’m determined to do it again. It is the most time consuming activity left on the chart, and I’ve been trying to come up with an outline for this year’s camp. But there are so darn many projects that look fun (and beautiful) but I can’t stream them together as themed days. So I didn’t. The girl who loves herself a good theme has thrown all caution to the wind and is going to hold a science camp simply because it looks fun. Cause let’s be serious, I have a 2 and 5 year old and my main goal of science camp is to show them that science and learning is fun.

I’ve made a Science Camp pin-board you are welcome to follow (if you do that sort of thing). Here are some of the projects that look way too cool to not do:

Magnetic Putty from Instructables

Lava Lamps from SL Smith Photography

Play Dough Planet Earth from Meet the Dubiens

Aren’t they beautiful!

Here are a few sites that have great science ideas for the younger crowd to help with your planning:

Fun Science Experiments for Kids
Easy Kids Science Experiments
Preschool Science

Will there be a science camp at your house?

Yes we are! You inspired me last year. . I just have to figure out if I want to do it while we are vacation for another three weeks or wait until we get home!

This is great! I’m a science teacher, so it’s great to see that some people are willing to explore science at home with their children. Science really can be fun! (And thanks for the great websites and activities! I can definitely use some of them!)
