Hi there readers! It’s Ali, back from Dream Crafter. I am so excited to share this Crocheted Winter Blanket Tutorial with you today because its something that has taken me a long time to complete. I love a good project that I can just sit down and do at night. Doing crafts like crocheting or sewing or cross stitch are some of faves because they help me unwind from my day. I started this blanket about 4 months ago (although it didn’t really take me that long to finish. I’m just a procrastinator,) and I love how it turned out.
I am a huge fan of grey. You can never go wrong with a good neutral. Especially on something that is so big. Here is what you will need to make it:
1. A million skeins of Lion Brand “Dallas Grey” yarn. Seriously…I think this took me like 15-17 skeins. Of course this depends on the size of blanket you want. I made mine big enough to cover the length of my 6 foot hubby. 🙂
2. You will also need a size J or K sized crochet hook. Remember that the larger your hook, the more “hole-y” your blanket will be, but that also means fewer stitches.
Pattern:
Row 1: Ch (chain) 125, plus Ch 2 for increase
Row 2: Skip first hole and start in second loop working the other direction. hdc (half double crochet) in each ch across. ch 2 for increase.
Row 3-55: Follow same instructions as in Row 2.
Row 56: Finish blanket with single crochet all the way around. Tie off. Re-thread any loose ends from when you finish a skein.
Thats it! Easy peasy!
I can’t believe how soft this blanket is. I just want to stay in it all day. Maybe I should have added some sleeves and made it into Snuggy version. 🙂
I think when my mom comes to visit from AZ this is going to be her favorite blanket. And I can’t wait to wrap up my new baby boy in this softy. Huzzah for warm blankets!
Thanks for letting me stop by and share some of my crafting world with you! Be sure to stop by Dream Crafter to see all the other shenanigans I am dreaming up for Christmas this year.
