11 Ideas to Help Your Garden Grow

Over the years I've learned that people are on either side of the yardwork fence, you either love it or you despise it. I'm a yard work junkie and find great satisfaction in having a weed free yard with a trimmed lawn and blooming flowers. Yesterday, I mowed our lawn for the first time this year! So to kick off the growing season here are 11 posts from around the web with information to get your yard and garden looking great! If you don't know where to begin, check out these tips from Cottage at the Crossroads Sherelle has beautiful photos of her garden and the produce she raises. Even those with a black thumb will be wanting to grow garden produce like she does. They even have their own greenhouse--which I'm pretty envious of. Spring Windsock Kid Craft

sm windsock header

I have 2 little ones at home during the day and we love to have a "crafternoon" at least once a week.  I love to just sit with my kids and let them get crafty.  I love watching their little hands work.  They make funny faces when they concentrate hard on their coloring...and I love it. This week we made spring windsocks.  We used the amazing Painters Markers from Elmers, spring colored tissue paper, and Elmer's Craft Bond spray adhesive for this project. Using an 8.5 x 11 piece of white cardstock, we created a pattern using the Painters Markers.  They loved drawing zigzags and polka-dots.  These markers are amazing...you can paint on pretty much anything!  They are permanent so pull out those paint smocks! After the paint dries, we used the Craft Bond spray to attach streamers of tissue paper to the back of the picture.  Staple the windsock into a cylinder and add a handle at the top with  a strip of paper. They look so pretty blowing from our trees. This post was … [Read more...]

Spring Cleaning Tips from FunCheapOrFree {Spring Fever Series}

Hi all! Jordan from FunCheapOrFree here. Does anyone have the Spring Cleaning itch yet?? I have 3 kids, and my oldest just turned 4. Yes, you heard that right. And yes, my house can be a real disaster. Spring comes around and I am a cleaning machine! The rest of the year? Not so much...UNTIL NOW! Here are 3 simple techniques to help get you spring cleaning in no time, and keep your house clean all year long! 1. BLITZ CLEAN. If you're anything like me, you tend to look at your messy house and have a hard time imagining when you'll find a full day to get it clean again. My solution for getting, and keeping your house clean? Blitz clean! We might not have all day to clean our house top to bottom, but everyone can find 10 minutes in their day. Here's how this works: Find 5-10 minutes in your day, but no more than 10! (Why? It's too easy to get side-tracked, it's harder to stay fast and focused for longer, and it's easy to find 10 minutes vs 20 or more.) Pick one area of your … [Read more...]

Gold Glitter Sign from Girl Loves Glam {Spring Fever Series}

I am so excited to be partying with all of you Crafting Chicks readers today! I am McKenzie, a lifestyle/beauty blogger from Girl Loves Glam. I can't even tell you how excited I am that it is finally Spring! Even though the weather in Idaho isn't as happy and springlike as I would hope, I still enjoy adding some springtime charm to my house to make it feel bright and fresh. I knew I wanted to create a sign that also had some sort of natural element in it. I absolutely love wood grain so I chose to create a super cute Spring sign on a wood slice. Of course I needed to add some gold glam to it too! I am kind of obsessed with how it turned out. It is modern and fun! It was so easy to make too. Here is what you need to make your very own... *Wood slice *Vinyl (Just a scrap of vinyl will work because you won't actually be using the vinyl for anything other than a stencil) *Vinyl cutter *Gold paint *Gold glitter *Glitter glue First, cut out the word "Spring" out of vinyl and … [Read more...]
