I miss you candy grams at

Hi! It’s Ginger from, & I am so excited to be here at The Crafting Chicks. How’s your summer been so far? Ours has been busy & fun! My hubby has actually had to be out of town a few times this summer already. It’s always crazier than normal when he’s gone. Annnnd boy do I miss him a ton! That’s why I decided to sneak some I Miss You Candy Grams into his suitcase the last time he left! I thought these candy bars with cute notes turned out soooooo cute! So today I’m sharing the free candy bar printable so you can make these, too!

candy bar love notes at

For this project you will need:

candy (Reese’s, Kit Kat, Almond Joy, Pay Day, Mounds & M&Ms)

white cardstock

distressing ink (optional)

hole punch

I cut out all my candy gram tags, & then I distressed the edges with some distressing ink.

Then I glued each one onto a matching piece of scrapbook paper.

candy gifts

Next I punched a hole & tied each one onto the candy bar with some ribbon.

candy grams for men

The only thing left to do was hide these in different spots of my hubby’s suitcase!

candy grams from

These would also be cute for kids away at college or summer camp.
I bet grandparents would love these, too from the grand kids!

You can print out these labels right {HERE}.

I shared this over at SNAP and wanted to make sure you all are able to see why this year I am choosing to Be Gentle.

Do you know about the One Little Word New Year’s challenges? ¬†This is a way to make New Year’s Resolutions much easier on yourself. ¬†Instead of making a never ending, and sometimes never accomplished, list of things to do, you just focus on One Little Word. ¬†Wanna know why I choose this word?
Here’s¬†the definition:

Is it just me, or would you like to be described as: mild in temperament or behavior; kind or tender.

I would love it if people said that about me…most importantly, if my children and husband could say that about me.

This past November I attended a women’s conference called Time Out For Women. ¬†It is full of uplifting nourishment for the soul, and a perfect way to escape, especially for this mom of 3 little girls.

I saw this video clip there and it really changed my perspective on how gentle I am not only with my family, but with myself.

I have always thought of myself as gentle, but as I reflected on my actions and words with my children husband, I realized that I’m not that gentle at all. Then I thought of how hard I am on myself. ¬†And how I sometimes get frustrated with other people and have thoughts that are anything but gentle thoughts towards them. ¬†I think this is the year to become more gentle.

I mean, look at these people.  I should be super gentle and loving with them!

So I’ve found one of my favorite quotes on being gentle and have made it a printable for me to hang up anywhere I can! Seriously, in my office, car, fridge, and bathroom. ¬†You can download the¬†Free Printable¬†below!

I even bought a necklace from Charmed Collections that says, “be gentle.” ¬†LOVE it!

It’s a perfect reminder to me EVERYDAY to focus on what’s most important and helps me keep my goal first and foremost in my mind.

So leave a comment and tell me what your One Word is or how you think you can be more gentle in your life.

Hey friends! ¬†I am so excited to tell you about the POWER OF MOMS ¬†retreat that Brooke and I had the¬†privilege¬†of attending a couple of weeks ago. ¬†If you’ve never been to the Power of Moms website, YOU MUST. ¬†It’s always been one of our favorites here at Crafting Chicks and it’s the most amazing parenting site. ¬†Saren and April and their 300 authors are REAL, HONEST, EMPOWERING and so very RESOURCEFUL. ¬†I love it also because they talk so much about “Deliberate” in your parenting. ¬†THIS CONCEPT IS POWERFUL and I love that they remind all of us that we can plan, prepare, and make our families and parenting experiences wonderful and purposeful.

Retreat Description:  Power of Moms Retreats are uniquely powerful opportunities for learning, sharing, reflecting and relaxing.

Part ‚Äúprofessional development‚ÄĚ in the field of motherhood and part get-away,¬†Power of Moms Retreats can entail a day-long or weekend get-away or simply a two or three-hour gathering where a group of moms step away from their regular lives to learn from wonderful trainers and from each other and head home¬†empowered with ideas and support.

Our Retreats are designed to unite women from all backgrounds, regardless of religion, age, family size, or employment status. We find common ground in our desires to be deliberate mothers.

(Total nerds getting our parenting awesomeness on.)

I learned so many things there and here are just a couple of tidbits (and they have amazing worksheets on each of these topics):

  • Family Systems: ¬†It’s all about systems to keep your house running smoothly with as little effort as possible. ¬†
  • Family Economy: ¬†We talked about different ways to ¬†reward and keep track of chores and responsibilities in the home. ¬†It’s great because you start by thinking about what you want your children to learn when they leave the home. ¬†I love their idea about the peg system. ¬†Each child has a number of pegs that they put in the FINISHED spot when they are done with certain chores. ¬†At the end of the week, they get paid for their pegs. ¬†I love the quote Brooke always says, “The purpose of the task is to build the relationship.”
  • Personal Workflow: (based on Getting Things Done by David Allen…which I adore) ¬†They have adapted David Allen’s program for moms, it’s AMAZING. ¬†They discussed how we gather process and organize all of the things, tasks, papers in our lives so we can have clear minds as mothers, brilliant. ¬†I love the idea of the INBOX.
  • Synergistic Parenting: ¬†I love their idea about the 5 facet review for each child, each month, with your spouse. ¬†It’s where you go on a date with your spouse and discuss each child’s mental, physical, emotional, spiritual and social state. ¬†You look for possible problems as well as the possibilities and opportunities for each child. ¬†It’s great because I think if we all did this, many problems would be solved before they are real problems. ¬†I LOVE THIS. ¬†What a great reminder to focus on each child individually, because they really are individuals.
  • Family Culture: ¬†What do we want people to remember about THE _________ FAMILY? ¬†You build your family culture with mottos and statements that define who you are as a family what you want your family to be. ¬†I LOVE LOVE LOVE this. ¬†With my app Kid Chatteroo, this is HUGE and what’s it’s all about. ¬†Family culture is what makes your kids keep coming back to your family now and in the future. ¬†They talk about traditions. ¬†I LOVE this.
  • So. Much. More. ¬†It was amazing.

We were pleased to hear from Linda and Richard Eyre, NYT Best-seller authors…..for just about 35 parenting books. ¬†They just happen to be Saren’s parents who Brooke and I have read their books for years. ¬†It reminds me years ago when I met them at a conference and I think I cried because I was meeting them…they are THAT amazing. ¬†I am THAT nerdy.

This isn’t the most non-blurry picture but I had to include this since we love Saren’s mom so much, mama EYRE.

We can’t say enough about this retreat. ¬†You know how some things you walk away a different person? ¬†This was no exception. ¬†It really makes you think about all these things that are so important. ¬†I am so passionate about all these things and it was magical to be there and be totally inspired and to be in such great company. ¬†I even want to go again. ¬†They also have many AMAZING programs for moms online HERE!

Thank you April and Saren from Power of Moms.

Brooke and Kirsten

I was lucky enough to go on a cruise to Alaska with my husband last week. ¬†I can’t remember the last time that we were able to be together for 7 straight days without kids.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my girls, and LOVE being a mom, but let’s face it, being a mother is exhausting , stressful work. ¬†It was so fun to be with my husband and reconnect.

That all being said, a 7-day cruise is not in the plans for another, oh, 10 years or so. ūüėČ ¬†That’s why I’m so excited to “date” my husband so we don’t lose the connection we rekindled on the cruise.

I’m sure you’ve heard of our blog friends The Dating Divas. ¬†These ladies are amazing and are all about “dating” your husband so that you can keep that connection alive. ¬†This is something I plan on doing because I really dig this guy! ūüėČ

To make it easier on me, and all of you, The Dating Divas wrote all their best tips and ideas for spicing it up in The A to Z Guide: 26 Ways in 26 Days to A Happier, Healthier Marriage.

I’m excited to read a book written by ladies that are around my age and in the same stage of life as me. ¬†They get where I am and how I’m feeling.

Now to plan those dates The Dating Divas wrote¬†The Ultimate Date Night Book. ¬†I just love the date ideas in this book. ¬†Some are pretty easy and others are a little more intense so just choose what you’re up for and get planning. ¬†These dates will¬†guarantee¬†a great time and a better¬†connection¬†with your hubby.

Now, I’m not going to just tell you about the books. ¬†Our cute friends, The Dating Divas, have teamed up with us to hook Crafting Chicks¬†readers up with a SWEET deal! When you buy¬†both books (using the E-Book Bundle) cart option and code CHICKS, you get $20 off! ¬†So you get both books for $26.97…which is a great deal when you think that the Date book sells for $37.00.

All good things must come to and end….this deal is only good until July 4th 2012, so run and order your books now so you can make your marriage amazing! ¬†Tell me what dates you plan on doing. ¬†I can’t wait to help¬†strengthen¬†marriages all over!

New daddy basket treats

I came up with this idea right before¬†giving birth to my third baby girl. That pregnancy has been a little more difficult since I had to chase after my two older girls and have not had as much time to myself for the rest that is needed.¬† I am sure that I have focused tons on my needs and demanded more from my sweet husband.¬† He has been great going above and beyond in order for me to get that extra rest I’ve needed.

Since birth and pregnancy are mostly about the mom and new baby, I was thinking that he needed a special treat.¬†¬†I decided to¬†make him a fun little goodie basket to take to the hospital.¬† I’m sure the guy in your life would love it too .

basket with tags

Here’s what you will need:

treats with tags2

My¬†hubby¬†is always bored at the hospital and sometimes gets hungry.¬† Now every hospital I have delivered at has had a fun little goodie room for the dad’s waiting, but my hubby feels awkward going in to get himself a treat.¬† I wanted him to have all the fun treats he loves right in the room with us!

treats with tags 1

So here goes.  Pretty simple stuff.  Just go find all the fun treats your hubby loves.  Mine loves crackers, Coke, beef jerky, Junior Mints, Red Vines, and Nut Rolls.  I tried to think of something clever to add to each note that attached to the treat.  Some ended up with me just telling him how much I loved and appreciated him.  I made sure to include examples of things I had noticed he had been doing.  (The best way to keep them doing what you want is to let them know how much you appreciate it.  Just a small tip from me!)

Give the basket to The New¬†Daddy and watch him smile.¬† Remember ladies, you don’t have to wait for a huge moment like having a baby to let the guy in your life know that you love and appreciate him.¬† You could make this basket any time for any reason.
