Wreaths aren’t just for the front door anymore! They’re finding their way to practically every room of the house. And when you’re creating a wreath to celebrate the season or a special occasion, you’re only limited by your imagination. There are some great wreath ideas in The Home Depot Fall Style Guide.

We have a very light kitchen–white cabinets, white backsplash, light countertops, stainless steel appliances, light gray walls, and white board batten  around the dining room. I love how bright it is, and actually chose it to be that way, but I like a pop of color to liven things up. We have a weird upper cabinet that angle out towards the dining room. One day I hope to put glass doors on it and fill it with bright serving dishes, but until then I try to keep wreaths hanging on the doors.

I love this tip from Home Depot’s Fall Style Guide: “Create your home’s oasis with the latest trends in kitchen and bathroom décor by using muted, natural hues that sing to warm, cozy spaces, or metal finishes that make your home sparkle.” It was what inspired these two wreaths.

I was hoping I’d find some metallic, or mirrored tiles at Home Depot, but since I didn’t I made my own! To make them I picked up some Rust-Oleum Hammered paint in silver and a sheet of tile from Home Depot. I wasn’t too particular about what tile I bought, since I knew I would be painting it. But I did have a hard time deciding which metallic color to choose–I really like the champagne, but when with nickel to match the appliances. For my wreath base, I simply traced my Kitchen Aid bowl onto a piece of cardboard and used a ribbon spool to make the inside circle. I cut them out and sprayed the circles and tile with the spray paint.

After they were dry, and while my glue gun was heating up, I popped the tiles off of the netting. Then I simply glued them around the wreath. I lucked out, because with no planning on my part, the Kitchen Aid size was perfect for 4 rows of tiles!

A red ribbon and bow provide that pop of color I was looking for, while the nickel looks great in the same room as my appliances.
