I cannot tell you how excited I am about this post today!  This project has been one that took me a little longer to work on, but it has paid off.  I am in LOVE I tell you, L-O-V-E!

I knew when I started my girl’s new room that I would want to add pops of color where I could.  The chevron wall was fun but I still wanted a little more.  I also loved the idea of having great uplifting sayings as well as family pictures surrounding them.  So I ran into Poppy Seed Projects and started pulling frames off the shelves and placing them on the floor.  Holly, from Poppy Seed, was so good to help me mix and match so that I could get the look I wanted.  We got everything laid out on the floor and then started deciding what colors to paint everything.

Ready for some hints on colors?

You’ll want to choose 4-5 colors.  Having more will over power the wall.  You also want to make sure you have at least one anchor color.  An anchor color would be black, brown, or white.  A color that would mellow things out but still add.

We also decided which frames to give that fun antique look too, which ones to layer, and which ones to add a fun pattern to.  This will just add variety and interest to your gallery wall.

So once I got the frames, I checked out the Americana paints to pick out my perfect colors.  I went with Golden Straw for the yellow, Peony Pink, white, and Russet for the brown.  I had the Aqua spray paint because I knew I wanted that color in as well.   Colorful-Frames-2

I got my frames all ready and painted and once they were done it was time to find the perfect things to go inside!

I made the “I Am A Child of God” printable and you can find that on our site.

Most of the other prints came from the talented Crystal Wilkerson and her Color Combo No. 4 Printables.  I LOVE these!!

colorful-frame-5 I’ve always loved this quote so I decided to make a printable of it.  I again used one of Crystal’s papers for the background.  I made up three different ones actually.  I’m thinking I’ll offer them as a download soon.

Ah, I could just sit in the girls new room and stare at this wall.  It makes me so happy.  Here are a few more pictures for you…or maybe for me.  I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do. 🙂

Last month The Crafting Chicks hosted a fun craft night withPoppy Seed Projects for a few of our blogging friends. Now, it’s no secret around here that we LOVE Poppy Seed Projects and the fabulous Holly and Kim (and Crystal too!) who run it all. I’ve chatted about their products before, but here’s a quick reminder! At Poppy Seed Projects they design and put together project kits that you can purchase then assemble and craft yourself. You’ll die at how cute their stuff is:

Their kits and ideas are perfect for Super Saturday, craft groups, or an afternoon of crafting on your own, with detailed instructions and high quality, hand-cut materials. You can order products from their website (they ship anywhere) or you can visit their store located in Sandy, Utah. They also offer a variety of classes, so check and see if they have one in your area.

Of course we can’t get enough of their shaped frames. These 16×20 bracket frames make me swoon.

We enjoyed goodies, especially deliciously decadent cupcakes graciously provided by The Sweet Tooth Fairy. (I love the Strawberry Shortcake ones!) And in keeping with our website’s color palette we had bottles of Clementine and Peach flavored Izze drinks nesting in a metal turquoise tub! 🙂

Each blogger painted a 5×7 bracket or scallop frame and got to do a little shopping in the store. Good times!

Decoart generously gave us all a great gift pack of their most popular bottles of acrylic paint (I love them–my favorite right now has to be Spa Blue!) for our future painting projects. Our friends at Pick Your Plum provided some sassy swag bags too! We love working with these brands!

We had a great time crafting and chatting (and snacking! and laughing!) the night away. Thanks to Poppy Seed Projects for being such wonderful co-hosts with us for this event! We love you guys! Be sure to take a look at their website for your creative project needs.
