Raspberry Twists with Cream Cheese Frosting

Ingredients
  • 2 c. warm water
  • ½ c. sugar
  • 2 Tbs yeast
  • ½ c. shortening
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 5-6 c. flour
  • 1 pkg cream cheese
  • ½ c. butter, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1-1½ lbs powdered sugar
  • milk
Instructions
  1. Add water, sugar, yeast, shortening, salt and 5 cups of flour, mix until dough pulls from the side of the mixer. Add more flour if needed. It will still be a little sticky. Cover. Let rise till double. Divide dough into 3 equal balls, roll out on floured surface. Trim with pizza cutter to make square. Spread with raspberry filling and fold dough in half. Cut into 1-1½" strips with a pizza cutter. Twist and place on a lined or sprayed baking sheet. Cover with towel and let raise for 30 minutes. Bake at 350• for 20 minutes. Let cool and top with cream cheese frosting.

  3. Mix cream cheese and butter, add powered sugar and vanilla and a little milk until smooth. Place frosting a zip-loc bag. Snip off a corner and squeeze frosting onto the twists.
