The Softest Sugar Cookies
  • 1 c. sugar
  • ½ c. butter
  • ½ c. sour cream (don't skip this part!)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla (or a little more:)
  • ½ tsp almond extract (only if you want, adds a little something extra:)
  • 3 cups flour for drop cookies, 3¼- 3½ (for roll out cookies) flour
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  1. Cream together sugar, egg, softened butter, vanilla, and sour cream. In a separate bowl, combine dry ingredients. Slowly add this to your sour cream mixture. Mix well. For best results, refrigerate for 1-2 hours. You can either roll out the dough and use your favorite cookie cutters, or you can drop and flatten balls evenly on your cookie sheet.
  2. Bake at 375 degrees for 6-7 minutes. Don't over bake.
