Hey guys! It’s Shelly from Dolen Diaries and I’m back to share my latest obsession!! Faux Succulent picks from Floracraft! Have you seen these yet!?! They are totally cute, look like the real deal, and are completely maintenance free. Floracraft generously sent me some to get creative with and I’m SO excited to show you what I came up with… a Faux Succulent Monogram.

Supplies:

  • pallet wood
  • Floracraft Succulent Picks
  • Styrofoam
  • jigsaw
  • chop saw
  • wire cutters
  • carpenters square
  • tape measure
  • nail gun with nails
  • pencil

draw base for faux succulent monogram wreath

To start lay out your pieces of wood for the bottom and draw out your monogram outline in pencil. *You could print out a template to trace.

Cut the base pieces out with a jigsaw.

inner and outter frame layout Collage

Lay the cut base pieces out and begin cutting pallet wood pieces to frame the base. Carefully measure each section of your base to make sure that your frame will fit properly. Start with the outer frame and then work on the inner frame. *Each joint is a 45 degree angle so cut each joint piece at a 22.5 degree angle.

Once everything is cut and laid out start assembling the inner frame.

Slide the base around the inner frame and secure into place with nails.

nail the outter frame to the monogram pallet

Attach the outer frame to the base of the monogram piece by piece. Strong man hands come in really handy for this part to make sure the joints are all tightly secured.

  1. Your letter looks great! I’m trying to do something similar with an industrial metal letter that I snagged at an antique store. (Hence my finding your post during my obsessive Googling!) I’m just wondering how you got the foam to stay put in your letter? Did you glue it, or did you use some other method?

    Thanks!
