About a year ago I was frustrated because I had been looking for some cute job charts for my kids, and could never find one that totally worked for me. I wanted it to be personalized, cute, and inexpensive. I ended up just making my own, because sometimes that just works out better! 🙂 I shared the instructions and a digital template on my personal blog about a year ago, and nearly 1,000 downloads later it’s still going strong!! Hopefully it’s helped a lot of people. So now I am sharing the Job and Chore Chart with free printable template on the blog!
Here’s what we did. I sat with my kids (Brandon was almost 5 at the time and Annie had just turned 2) and they helped me make a list of the main chores they need to do everyday. I thought that way they would have a say in what would go on the chart and perhaps be more willing to actually DO the jobs! They were both really excited about their very own charts. We still use them, although we don’t always check off every single day. I need to get better at that. 🙂
Then I made some personalized charts for each of them in Photoshop Elements–we took pictures of their own stuff–printed them 12×18 inches at Costco and laminated them. A dry erase marker attached with velcro works just great for checking off the squares each day. I love how they turned out!! You can click on the images to make them larger.
I used various digital scrapbooking products–Digital Scrapbook Memories, Shabby Princess, Gina Miller, GG Digital Designs, Michelle Coleman….and Photoshop Elements 4.0.
I’ve made my template available for download if you’re interested and are “digital scrapbooking savvy!” 🙂 The zipped file includes the layered TIFF file as well as terms of use and instructions on how to use the template. It does not include the digital papers and embellishments. This is for personal use only. Please do not share these files with your friends, just direct them to this blog so they can get the link. 🙂 Thank you!

I made these last year when you first posted the template. My kids love them and I have them hanging on the wall still. Whenever someone comes over they always comment, what a great idea and I told them I got the idea from a super talented creative girl I know 🙂 So thanks again Brooke!

thanks for sharing this idea. i have been wanting to make job charts forever. would you mind explaining what you mean by mom/dad choice and brandon’s choice. is that each day he and you gusy get to choose a different chore to do that is not part of the regular chores? thanks for sharing the template as well.
Becky says
Super cute. I love how you have the pictures on there too.
Brooke says
Naomi Carmen–you’re exactly right. It gives us some wiggle room to add an extra chore that needs to be done, and then we let them pick a chore from a few options so they feel like they have a say. >>I’m glad you all like it, hope it’s helpful for you. 🙂

I don’t know if you were aware, or if you even care, but I think this girl is using your templates, or at least the whole idea of your chore charts and is selling these. I don’t know what your terms of use are, if you have any, but just thought I would make you aware anyways. http://alishascustomjobcharts.blogspot.com/

My sister in law made these years ago and now I have my own kiddos that I would like to make them for. My sister in law sent me to this link but now when I download the files from 4shared, there are no digital scrapbook files in it, just a tiff. Could you send me the files please?! I just LOVE all your ideas!
Thanks!
