Fingerprint Bugs

Fingerprint Bugs

Fingerprint Bugs!

I’m excited to kick off Bug Week here on our Little Red Hen Summer Survival Series. These Fingerprint Bugs are so simple and fun for the kiddos. I loved watching to see what my girls would come up with.  Here’s what you’ll need.

Fingerprint-bugs-stamps

First off, download the fingerprint bug jar printable below. I printed these off onto some card stock so the stamps would not leak through the paper.  You could do regular copy weight if you’d like.
Download Grab some stamps or you could even use finger paints. I had a fun variety of stamps from Close to My Heart.

If you also have a nice fine tip black pen or maker they work well for adding finishing touches to the bugs.

Start by reading your favorite bug book. We read Bugs Galore

bugs galore

This book gave my girls some fun ideas on what bugs to add to their fingerprint bugs.

Then I gave them the paper and stamps and they were off.

Of course girls have to add flowers right?

I was so amazed at their ability to make these bugs come to life.  They made each jar a little cozy home for their bugs. The best part is it kept them busy for a solid 30 minutes. I’m sure I could print more sheets out and they would keep making bugs.

Stay tuned the rest of this week as we celebrate all things BUGS!

Fairytale Match

Hi everyone! I’m Kiki from Kiki and Company and am so excited to be here this week for Fairytale Week. Growing up, I LOVED Fairy Tales. I loved to be read to, love to read them myself and eventually loved watching them as movies too! This summer, I am trying to add to my collection of fun things for my kiddos to do inside and thought this would be a perfect time to make a fun Fairy Tale Match game so that we could review them together!

Fairy Tale Match from kiki and company.

Playing this is a really fun way to involve kids of all ages, but also a great time to share some of your favorite Fairy Tales with them too! I had my 3 year old, 6 year old and 9 year old all playing at the same time…and it was FUN.

Party in a Can ~ Birthday Gift Idea

Hello! It’s Ginger from GingerSnapCrafts.com. I am sooooo excited to be back here today sharing this fun birthday gift idea! Yay! I have loved my previous visits with the Chicks when I shared a colorful burlap wreath & an easy chalkboard inspired spring block. Over on my blog I love sharing easy, simple & fun projects, recipes & ideas. I’m also a mom to 5 kiddos, & they keep me busy! One of my kiddos is almost a senior! Gulp! How did that happen? It won’t be too long before he leaves the nest & takes off on his own. I’m not too sure I’m ready! ha! Today I am sharing this easy Party in a Can tutorial with you with FREE birthday printable! This would be the perfect gift to send to your college student or missionary on their birthday. You better believe I’ll be sending a gift just like this to my kiddos when they are older. You can’t have a birthday without a little party! This would also make a great gift for a neighbor or friend. So let’s get started!

birthday party in a can printable label

You’ll need a few supplies:

empty paint can (I bought mine for about $5 at Home Depot. Look in the paint section.)
3 12×12 pieces of scrapbook paper
white card stock
this printable
spray adhesive
ribbon

First, you will print out your label. Then I used the print & cut feature with my Silhouette to cut it out in a circle. You could also use a circle cutter or paper trimmer to cut it out.

Silhouette Print & Cut 600

Next I cut 2 pieces of scrapbook paper the same height as my can. You’ll need 2 pieces of 12×12 paper to fit around your can. Be sure to measure & cut a little notch to fit around the handle on each side of the scrapbook paper.

I also used my Silhouette to cut a circle for the lid.

Next I used some spray adhesive to put the paper on my can. I love this stuff! It’s one of favorite craft products EVER!!! :)

Now my can looked like this! Isn’t it cute? ha!

Then using the spray adhesive I attached the birthday label right to the front of my can.

Now it was time to fill this baby up! ha!

Some ideas for your party can >>>>> cake mix, icing, cupcake liner, sprinkles, confetti, candles, balloons, streamers, party favors, party decor, candy for decorating, notes & gift cards

Then I put everything inside! It was pretty tight fit, but the mission was accomplished. ha!

Then I put the lid back on, and then I sealed it with a rubber mallet. I added a tag & can opener on the side with some cute ribbon.

I love how it turned out! This is THE perfect gift for someone far away. Pop it in the mail, and then just imagine their happy face when they open their package!

Purplicious Party Bingo {Free Printable}

purplebingo-MAIN

A few weeks ago I shared my super simple Leotard & Tutu Cupcake Toppers I made for my daughter’s “Purplicious Dance Party” birthday party. Today I’m sharing a FREE DOWNLOAD of the Purplicious Bingo game I made for the girls to play.

purplicious bingo-4254

I gave them a bunch of mini marshmallows as the game pieces and of course they got to eat them when the game was over. :) It was a fun way to incorporate my daughter’s favorite color!

Simply download the file, extract the zipped folder to get access to the images, and then you can either print on your home printer or send them to a photo lab like Costco. If you want to get more wear out of the bingo card and the calling cards, I’d recommend laminating them.

The file contains 9 Bingo game cards and the 16 little calling cards you cut out individually. Download link is below:

Minute to Win It

I love to throw parties! And often on Sunday night, as we are watching Minute to Win It, I comment on what a fun party it would be.

So last week I made it happen as a surprise party for my sister. Because I went through the effort to put stuff together I thought I’d share it here with all of you!

If you haven’t seen Minute to Win It, the object is to complete a task in 1 minute and then move on to the next–earning money with each completed task (much like Millioinaire). There are 3 chances that can be used before you are finished. So you can re-try a game if you don’t pass it on the first attempt.
MTWI supplies

There are a lot of games, but these are the ones we chose to do because of the ease of setting up/we already had most of the supplies.

We used a church gym, with the basketball clock as our timer (complete with a loud buzzer!). And took advantage of the wireless internet to show the game introduction clips (from the MTWI website) using a projector. If you decide to do this for a really large group (like a ward party) it may work best to have a laptop at each station so contestants can watch before playing each game. Or you could introduce them all at the beginning on the projector.

We decided instead of having 1 person play at a time that it would be better to let everyone play whichever game they chose in the same 60 seconds, and then keep track on their scorecards. There were simultaneous games going and they played on the same buzzer. We started out having people mark their strikes, but gave up as the games are much trickier than they appear–but also very do-able after some practice. So if you succeeded it counted. Some games allow more than 1 person to play at the same time, such as Face the Cookie, which speeds things up. At the end of the party we had them add up the number of games they successfully completed and the highest score was deemed champion.

MTWI Scorecards

The 3 boxes are for the strikes if you decide to use them.

The games were set up around the perimeter of the gym with these signs hanging nearby indicating which game was which.
