Easy DIY Bandanna Mini Aprons - Paris Bakeshop Birthday Party

Oh my goodness……..I CANNOT wait to share my Abby’s Parisian Bakeshop Party with you!

It all began with these littleĀ aprons. I love how they turned out. I will be sharing other parts of the bakeshop party early next week…so stay tuned!

I found these bandannas at Hobby Lobby. They are located near their canvas bags, aprons, etc. Only $1 too! I was so excited when I spotted these pink polka-dot and turquoise blue ones…the colors I was already planning on using.

The first step was to cut down the bandanna to an apron shape. I held it up to my little girl to get the right size. I just sort of cut out an “A” line pattern. Very basic and simple…so you can add some pizzazz later:)

The top and bottom seams were already sewn and ready. I just had to sew a quick seam up each side. Make sure you save a side strip of the bandanna for later…for FABRIC FLOWERS!!!

So with the side strip I saved, I made a fabric flower. You just basically hand sew a running stitch down the folded over strip (horizontally folded), and pull and tighten as you go. Pull tight and wrap round into a rosette flower shape and sew together. Very simple and quick. I then added cute buttons for the centers. I tied baker’s twine through the button holes for an added touch:)

I hot glued the blue flowers on the pink polka-dot aprons and glued the pink flowers on the blue aprons. I also added their names. I LOVE monograms or personalized names. My friend who was also planning a bakeshop party for her little girl (we have been planning and pinning and talking about bakeshop parties forever it seems) just added the first initial on to her aprons. LOVE both ideas.

I used ruffle ribbon at the bottom…this added so much cuteness and literally took seconds to sew on…so easy to sew on this ribbon..it is stretchy too.

To finish it off, I added ribbon in the center, top, and sides to tie the apron on.

SO sweet and simple. All the girls looked absolutely adorable in their aprons and it was such a fun “party favor” to send them home in!

Like I said I can’t wait for you all to see the many other details of the Parisian Bakeshop Party!

Check back Monday!

xoxo Jamie

  1. Fabulous aprons. I didn’t realize bandanas were so large. The colors are perfect. I’m doing my daughter’s chef party this weekend. Can’t wait to see the rest of your party next week. I found a set of plain white aprons and chef hats on eBay for about $3/set that I plan to dress up with some ribbon an rosettes like you did. Yours look so cute. I wish I would have done the bandana though because they are so cheap, easy and cute! Thanks for sharing how you did it!

  2. This makes me wish my daughter was little again so I/we could do this! Hopefully I’ll have a granddaughter someday to do it with! Great Idea!
