One thing that has become a tradition for my girls and I, is making yummy popcorn. They love to help add ingredients and eat it. I love that we get to spend time together and that it’s easy to clean up.
Here’s a fun video of my girls and I making it. (Video by Heather Cluff)
Here is one of our family favorite popcorn recipes, Peppermint Popcorn.
- 12 cups popped popcorn (1 cup uncooked)
- 1 pound almond bark or white chocolate melts
- 2-4 drops of peppermint essential oil (could use peppermint oil but be careful with peppermint extract)
- 1 box of candy canes, crushed
- ¼ cup of confetti sprinkles (I love using these cute Christmas tree shaped ones)
- ¾ cup semisweet or dark chocolate
- Place popcorn in a large bowl.
- Melt almond bark according to directions.
- If microwaving you can try our easy instructions:
- seconds at 50% power, stir
- seconds at 50%, stir

- seconds at 50%, stir
- WHEN YOUR CHOCOLATE IS ALMOST MELTED, CUT THE TIME IN HALF TO PREVENT SCORCHING CHOCOLATE.
- Once almond bark is melted, add in your peppermint essential oil. Stir this in evenly and add a drop at a time until it is at your desired flavor level.
- Pour the melted almond bark over your popcorn and begin mixing. At this point you can start to add in the crushed candy canes, and confetti sprinkles.
- Lay out on waxed paper and make one layer.
- Melt the dark chocolate chips using the directions above. Drizzle the dark chocolate over top of the popcorn using a fork.
- Let cool completely and then break up to serve and share.
Now to make this a cute gift, just grab a fun gift bag. I love these ones I got from the Heidi Swapp that you can find at Joann. The popcorn looks so cute in there.
