If you don’t know by now, I am obsessed with scrapbook paper. I hoard so many paper pads, I hate to think how many I have. Plus, crafting with pattern paper is my all time favorite! I am always on the lookout for new paper pads. SO, when I saw the new Pebbles Homemade collection by Jen Hadfield aka Tater Tots & Jello blog, I just new I had to make a project using this fun and modern pattern paper. I found some plain white pencils at Michaels and boom! Project idea made.

Supplies

Here is the list of supplies to make the pencils:

  • Scrapbook paper
  • Pencils
  • Mod Podge
  • Foam sponge brush
  • Ruler
  • Scissors

  Let’s make it!

How to make scrapbook paper covered pencils

First I started by tearing out a piece of 12 x 12 paper from the paper pad. I measured the pencil and then traced the measurements onto the scrapbook paper, pattern side down. For my pencils the measurements are:  1 inch w by 6 1/2 inches h. Then use a pair of scissors to cut out on the traced pencil markings.

Next, I used a foam sponge brush and applied a generous amount of Mod Podge to the cut out piece of scrapbook paper. I found that Mod Podge is the best type of adhesive for this craft project.

DIY Scrapbook Paper Pencils

Carefully line the scrapbook paper with the pencil and wrap tightly. Make sure to smooth the paper as you go, so you don’t end up with bumps and bubbles.

The pencils sharpen very easily.

Teacher's Gift with free printable

I thought I would include a free printable to use for a Teacher’s Gift. I recommend bundled the pencils with twine and placing the printable tag through the twine.

I love a good cheesy pun and this Write On printable is totally my style. Just cut out the printable tag using a 2 inch circle paper punch. Then use a hole punch at the top of the tag for the twine to go through.

Hope you all enjoy the end of the school year! Don’t forget to thank those Teachers!!
