Baby Blessing Dress and Birth Announcement

After two boys, I had pretty much convinced myself that we would only have boys. But in May we welcomed a little girl to our family! She is the most precious thing and is absolutely the world’s best baby. I’m not kidding about that, she really is!

In the LDS church infants are given a name and a blessing by a worthy Priesthood holder. I knew I wanted her dress to be special for the occasion, and spent a lot of time wondering what to do. Finally, I decided I would make it and that ruffle fabric would make the perfect dress. A quick search on Pinterest for “ruffled blessing dress” led me to this one from Sew Much Ado. It was perfect, simple and super cute. I used her ruffle diaper cover too!

Luckily, my mom was in town to help me with it–so it went together pretty fast with her on the serger and me on the sewing machine. I used smaller ruffles than Sew Much Ado and was very happy with how it turned out.

And while we’re talking about baby Grace, here’s her birth announcement I designed and printed on shimmer paper, front and back:

Tomorrow I’ll be sharing the grilled pizza dinner we had for friends and family after the blessing.
