Planning and maintaining a calendar for a family is lots of work. Here are our Family Calendar Tips and Tricks. Ways to keep your family healthy and on the move.

Calendar on table with pencil.

As a mom to three girls, I get my fill of planning and scheduling.

There’s piano, soccer practices, tumbling, guitar lessons, and sewing lessons for the girls. And various other things for my husband and I. We are on the go quiet a bit.

Add in doctors and dentist appointments. A mom has got to be on her toes to keep it all straight.

Every Sunday night you’ll find me sitting down at the kitchen table planning out our week so that everything runs smoothly.

Here are my Family Calendar Tips and Tricks

  1. Set aside a planning time. For me this is Sunday evening. I gather all my thoughts for the week ahead and make a date with myself and my husband to schedule out the family activites and appointments.
  2. Set reminders. I love to use my phone to set reminders for myself. I will set these for scheduling doctor or dentist appointments, changing the oil in the car, and reminding my husband to take out the trash.
  3. Paper or Electronic? Find what works for you. I like to put appointments in my phone and then transfer them to my paper planner on Sunday evenings. I find something therapeutic about writing everything down. But I still have reminders and other information in my phone. Try a few different things and stick with what works best for you.
  4. Review your Calendar every morning and every night. This will give you a chance to see what’s missing and what you can omit. Reviewing the calendar in the morning gives me a way to prepare for the day. Reviewing the day at night helps me see what’s coming up and if I missed anything.
  5. Post the calendar for your family.

I want to keep these guys around and happy as long as possible. Planning out our days ensures we are getting the important things done.

Planning in advance

One thing I’ve noticed since getting married, guys aren’t that great at making doctors appointments. They sometimes don’t think about taking care of themselves. And sometimes they have things they really need to get checked, that they really don’t want to. Like the prostate.

Yes, ladies we are talking to you about the prostate. And what are we bring up this organ? Well, 1 in 9 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime. Like my grandpa. Prostate cancer is the SECOND leading cause of cancer death among men.

We kinda want to keep this guy around as long as possible! Just like I’m sure you do with all the men in your life.

We’ve partnered with Prolaris prostate cancer testing for a cool incentive for you and the man in your life.

First off, Prolaris prostate cancer testing provides a new measure of the aggressiveness of an individual’s prostate cancer. Getting a Prolaris Score™ will give both the patient and physician additional information about the true nature of the cancer that no other test can. So make sure you talk to your healthcare provider about whether or not the Prolaris test is right for you and learn more about Prolaris here.

  1. I am def. more the worrier at my house about our health but for the most part, there is really nothing to worry about as both me and my husband are fairly healthy and never have a need to go to the doctor.

  2. I schedule all of the doctor’s appointments for our family and make sure everyone is up to date on everything!

  3. Both my father and my husbands father had prostate cancer. My father chose the surgery. His dad chose meds. So I forced my husband at 45 to be checked? That was 9 years ago. I’m not sure how often he should be checked? We both lost our fathers to heart attacks. His last February and mine this past March.
