Job and Chore Chart with free printable template

About a year ago I was frustrated because I had been looking for some cute job charts for my kids, and could never find one that totally worked for me. I wanted it to be personalized, cute, and inexpensive. I ended up just making my own, because sometimes that just works out better! 🙂 I shared the instructions and a digital template on my personal blog about a year ago, and nearly 1,000 downloads later it’s still going strong!! Hopefully it’s helped a lot of people. So now I am sharing the Job and Chore Chart with free printable template on the blog!

Here’s what we did. I sat with my kids (Brandon was almost 5 at the time and Annie had just turned 2) and they helped me make a list of the main chores they need to do everyday. I thought that way they would have a say in what would go on the chart and perhaps be more willing to actually DO the jobs! They were both really excited about their very own charts. We still use them, although we don’t always check off every single day. I need to get better at that. 🙂

Then I made some personalized charts for each of them in Photoshop Elements–we took pictures of their own stuff–printed them 12×18 inches at Costco and laminated them. A dry erase marker attached with velcro works just great for checking off the squares each day. I love how they turned out!! You can click on the images to make them larger.

Job and Chore Chart with free printable template I used various digital scrapbooking products–Digital Scrapbook Memories, Shabby Princess, Gina Miller, GG Digital Designs, Michelle Coleman….and Photoshop Elements 4.0.

I’ve made my template available for download if you’re interested and are “digital scrapbooking savvy!” 🙂 The zipped file includes the layered TIFF file as well as terms of use and instructions on how to use the template. It does not include the digital papers and embellishments. This is for personal use only. Please do not share these files with your friends, just direct them to this blog so they can get the link. 🙂 Thank you!

  2. thanks for sharing this idea. i have been wanting to make job charts forever. would you mind explaining what you mean by mom/dad choice and brandon’s choice. is that each day he and you gusy get to choose a different chore to do that is not part of the regular chores? thanks for sharing the template as well.

  3. Naomi Carmen–you’re exactly right. It gives us some wiggle room to add an extra chore that needs to be done, and then we let them pick a chore from a few options so they feel like they have a say. I’m glad you all like it, hope it’s helpful for you. 🙂
