{Kindergarten Countdown-Back to School}

Today I am sharing a fun craft to do with your kiddos to get ready for back to school! I have 2 kiddos starting kindergarten this fall…we are getting excited, but a bit nervous too. I thought it would be fun to make a countdown to get ready for the big day!!

Using AstroBrights fun colored papers, I cut out pennants (26 to be exact), to make a countdown banner with the alphabet. You could change it up to say anything…like “back to school,” or your child’s name or school.

I love the 23 bright happy colors AstroBrights papers has to offer. They are perfect for crafts, kid’s crafts, home projects, office projects and more!

To make the Back to School Countdown you need:

–AstroBrights papers (13 sheets of your colors of choice)

-Scissors

-Glue

-Letter Circles (you can download mine below)

-String or baker’s twine

-Hole puncher

-Crayons or markers for the kids to get creative;)

 

After the pennants were all cut out, I let my little artist decorate each one with pencils and crayons. I loved the designs they came up with, polka-dots, stripes, hearts, etc.

I designed some letter circles in photoshop. I cut out each circle and let the kids glue the letters on the pennants. They loved putting the ABC’s in order and making a pattern with the colors as we were putting our banner together.

After punching holes in the top corners of the pennants, we strung each pennant in order with the baker’s twine.

For a fun twist, we added activity ideas to get ready for school. We wrote these ideas on the back of each pennant. Some ideas were learning activities and back to school shopping & organinzing that we need to squeeze in before school begins.

A & B love having the countdown in their room. Just a few more days until the countdown begins!!
