Hey guys! Ella and Annie are back with a fun puffy paint paper plate Christmas tree craft! Wow, say that ten times fast. My kids have come home with numerous school projects involving puffy paint and I’ve been meaning to try making it at home. I was really surprised at how easy and quick homemade puffy paint is to make! Just add food coloring to make different colors. Paint with a paint brush or put the paint in a squeeze bottle to draw more detailed pictures or words. Kids absolutely love the fluffy texture of the puffy paint. Who would have thought that white glue and shaving cream could be a killer combination!
Puffy Paint Paper Plate Christmas Tree Craft
What you need:
- White Paper Plates
- White Elmer’s Glue
- Shaving Cream
- Green Food Coloring
- Rickrack Ribbon
- Glitter Pom Poms
- Paint Brush
What to do:
Cut a white paper plate into thirds.
Combine equal parts of white glue and shaving cream. Mix thoroughly. Add green food coloring until desired color of green is reached. You can also add a few sprinkles of fine green or iridescent glitter for some sparkle.
Paint the three paper plate pieces with the puffy paint mixture.
Once the puffy paint has dried, use hot glue to glue the tree together.
Decorate the tree by adding rickrack ribbon, to the bottom border of each plate.
Add the colorful sequins and a glitter pom pom for the Christmas tree topper.
Your kids will love how the puffy paint feels, it adds a super cool texture to any surface you paint on! My girls wanted to use sequins for the Christmas lights on the tree, however get creative and use buttons, stickers or even itty bitty pom poms to decorate your trees!
