Why Are Your Favorite Bloggers MORMON?

-Christ in a Red Robe, by Minerva Teichert-

Happy Sunday! We usually don’t post on Sunday, but today is different. As you know, we usually share crafts, tutorials, how-to projects, DIY fun, parenting tips, recipes, etc. but today really hits close to home for all of us. This will forever mark the day that we shared our most prized how-to’s on life, happiness, and the very thing that governs who we are and why we do what we do. We hope that you will understand that this is a subject that is very near and dear to our hearts and respect our thoughts.

With all the talk in the media today about our religion, much of it false, we would like to provide you with information from people that know and live our religion. Just like anything else, it’s good to go straight to the source so let us be yours if you have ANY questions. So in a place where we share our love for creating & family, it seems only natural that we share this with you.

WE ARE MORMONS. All five of us: Becky, Brooke, Nikkala, Kirsten and Jamie. We are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (also known as the “LDS Church” or “Mormons”).

Recently our friend Mariel of Or So She Says asked the question, Why are so many bloggers Mormon? We have always asked that question as well. There really are a whole lot of bloggers that are Mormon. I love how Caroline from Armelle Blog put it:  “Have you noticed too? Some of your favorite bloggers refer to being Mormon? Almost all of the bloggers I follow are Mormon as well. Personally, I think there are many reasons. It could be that Mormons are encouraged to keep a journal, and document their lives. It could be that many Mormons come from large families, so they are use to cooking large meals from scratch, or being more frugal, and doing a DIY project vs. spending large amounts of money on the real thing. It could be that Mormons are also invited to continuously learn and share their talents. There could be so many reasons!”

So we want to help answer that question for you. There is nothing that has given us more hope in our lives, more strength in our trials, and more answers to difficult questions than the Gospel that we so dearly love and our daily involvement in it. Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a daily thing and not just a Sunday task that we fulfill. It’s ingrained in the very fibers of our being, but WHY??

Mariel, and a bunch of other Mormon bloggers that you may recognize, got together to write our thoughts down about what we believe and why we believe. She says, “These are personal stories and beyond wondering why there are so many Mormon bloggers, it is also asked, ‘Why are they Mormon? Why is anyone Mormon?’ Starting today, I (and many fellow bloggers) are going to give you the opportunity to find out. As it involves our intimate thoughts and personal stories, we are going to keep it available only to those who truly want to know. Those who have an open mind and seek without the intention of ridicule or debate. Our beliefs are very special to us and we would like them to be respected.” There you have it.

Here’s how it works:

Along with this, we will send you a free copy of THE BOOK OF MORMON, another testament of Jesus Christ. Why the Book of Mormon, you may ask? Well, it’s impossible to explain what we believe without it. It was once said by Joseph Smith that, “the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book” (introduction to the Book of Mormon). It’s an ancient record about the history before, during and after Christ and is filled with beautiful lessons about following the Savior. It’s a book we read daily, our favorite book.

This offer will never expire.

We promise that we won’t share your information with anyone or send anyone to your door. PLEASE feel free to email us (craftingchicks at gmail.com) if you would like to send us a personal question or comment. There is no question that is silly or dumb, we are here to answer them with honesty, LOVE and respect and we hope you will do the same. Today just happens to be our General Conference which is a bi-annual Conference where we get to learn more about our Savior Jesus Christ. This quick clip (made to announce our General Conference back in April 2012) explains a lot about what General Conference is. Today you can find Conference broadcasted HERE live at 10am and 2pm, MST.

xoxo,

BECKY, BROOKE, JAMIE, NIKKALA & KIRSTEN
