Father’s Day Foods

Father’s Day is only two days away…and my father-in-law is officially the hardest person to give to…so a few years ago I decided to only give him edible gifts. They are the only kind that seem to get used! I love coming up with these Father’s Day Foods.

Last year we gave him ice cream, homemade hot fudge and crunchy topping.

This year we are giving him some yummy trail mix that I think he’ll enjoy.
It is made up of almonds, cashews, dried cranberries, raisins, sunflower seeds (shelled), and chocolate chips. I normally would have added walnuts, but he doesn’t like them so they were left out.Father's Day Gift Idea | Father's Day Nut Lovers Trail Mix

I dumped the mix into a large plastic Chinese take out container and added a ribbon and tag and another Father’s Day is taken care of!
Here are my recipes for hot fudge and the crunchy topping if you have a hard to buy for dad in your life!

Hot fudge:
1/2 cube butter
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1 cup sugar
1/8 cup flour
1 can regular evaporated milk
1 tsp vanilla

Melt butter, add dry ingredients, mix, add milk, mix well with whisk, boil for 2-3 minutes over medium heat stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add vanilla.

Crunchy Ice Cream Topping
4 cups oat
1 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup butter (cut into small cubes)

Mix all ingredients on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 10 minutes.

(These are my absolute favorite ice cream toppings so be sure to try them this summer!)

What do you give the hard to buy for dad in your life?
