Halloween Decor by American Crafts at Target

Last week I got together with my cousin for a little Crafternoon. While the kids played, we whipped together some Halloween crafts. I love when you can start and finish a project in an afternoon, while spending time with your favorite people. Never mind that some of those favorite people threw food across the room and cried to be held most of the time. But that's how great these projects were, even the toddlers couldn't stop us from finishing! We used some of the American Crafts Halloween line you can find exclusively at Target. These were made for an afternoon of crafting with friends (especially if you or your friends are less than crafty). Every thing is pre-cut, has adhesive on it, and is so easy to put together. Not to mention they are really cute! Our favorite part was opening the packages to discover everything was ready for us to assemble. This banner only required us to peel and stick the letters together and then the letters on the flags before stringing them together. … [Read more...]

Halloween Plates

Halloween Plates

This was originally shared as part of Spooktacular September on eighteen25. My Halloween decor is black and white with a few pops of color here and there. I fell in love with Rhonna's Insta Spooky font last year and knew I needed it in my house. Rhonna originally designed the font to use on Instagram, but since it is a true type font you can use it in your Silhouette Studio--which opens up all sorts of wonderful things you can do with it! And with 26 designs you can't go wrong. So instead of buying the Halloween plates I'd been drooling over, I created my own. I started with 3 silver trays I picked up at Dollar Tree. And gave them a good coat of black and white spray paint. Because my kids are vinyl pickers I prefer to use the vinyl as a stencil, so I made sure my bottom color was the color I wanted my image to be when it was all said and done. If your kids can leave things alone you can skip the last step. While the paint was drying I opened up the Silhouette software … [Read more...]

Spooky Book of Spells

I'm excited to share a fun project from my friend Shauna!  She is incredibly amazing and is always inspiring me with her creative juices. Let's just say everything she touches turns to gold! Last year Shauna made some of those fun Halloween jars with creepy contents. This year she decided she needed a fun "Book of Spells" to make her jars come to life!  I have to say I just love the result and wanted to share it with you and send you her way! Here's a sneak peek for Crafting Chicks readers! I'm sure you have most of the items you'll need for this laying around your house.  The book is an old text book painted with black paint. So clever huh!? Look at all the fun little touches.  I just love it.  I'm dying over the Glitter Blast! It just makes the book look so magical. Shauna is just starting her site out but you will not want to miss all the fun things she is working on.  Hop on over and say hi to her at Crafts Made Easy!   … [Read more...]

Glitter Blast Halloween Wreath

My Halloween decorations are a never ending project. Every year I just add one or two things, but my storage containers can't hold it all anymore! One of the additions this year was this Glitter Blast wreath for the front door. This project uses a black wreath, Halloween berry garland, and Krylon's Glitter Blast from ConsumerCrafts.com. I loved shopping on ConsumerCrafts.com. It's an online craft store without a closing time and with great prices! … [Read more...]

Halloween Character Candles

I got to share this fun Halloween idea on Skip To My Lou this past weekend and wanted to make sure that all our readers got a peek at it too. I'm getting so excited for fall.  One of the funnest holidays is Halloween don't you think?!?  I'm not into all the creepy, scary, bloody things.  I like the fun cute things.  What better way to have fun with Halloween decor then making  Halloween character faces on votive candle holders? I found a 6 pack of clear votive candle holders at Hobby Lobby and thought I could do something fun and festive with them. I used DecoArt glass paint to just paint one layer over each of the glass votives.  I followed all the directions on the paint.   Once the paint was dry, I use the Deco Art 3D Opaque Glass Writers for the faces.  It was so fun to draw fun faces on these little guys! Super easy and fun. Once the paint is completely dry, drop your candles in and light them up for some Halloween fun! Aren't they … [Read more...]
