I’m back to help make your visiting teaching fun and easy.  So go make your appointments and I will tell you what you need! Here is the Visiting Teaching Handout for July PRINTABLE FREEBIES!

The lesson for the month of July is on Strengthening Families and Homes.  When I was thinking of things I could do for the sisters I visit, I wanted to focus around something the family could do together during family home evening.

I found this recipe for Chocolate Cookies in a Jar and thought it would be a perfect way for you to take a treat that the family can make together without too much prep.  Besides, who doesn’t love a yummy treat?!?!

I also found these cute little tags from Summertime Design and added the info I wanted on them. One is the cookie recipe  (what they need to do with the mix) and the other one has a quote from the lesson. (You can download and print them by clicking on the words above.  I made them so you can print them on 4×6 photo paper or you could print 2 to a regular sheet of paper.)

Chocolate Cookie mix tag for Visiting Teaching July 2010 Visiting Teaching Quote Tag on Strengthening Home and Family So here is the recipe for the cookies:

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1/4 cup cocoa
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  1. Combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a 1 quart wide mouth canning jar, layer dark brown sugar, white sugar, cocoa, chopped pecans, and chocolate chips. Pack everything down firmly before you add flour mixture, it will be a snug fit.
  3. Attach a tag with the instructions.

I went to my local thrift store and bought some cute jars, not cause I’m cheap but I am trying to be more green. :)  I layered in all my ingredients (minus the nuts, cause ya never know if someone is allergic).  Then I printed off my cute tags and put them on there with some fun ribbon.  I sure think my ladies will enjoy these.  I know I can’t wait to give them out!

I also wanted to list a few other sites that have fun ideas for Visiting Teaching just to keep everyone motivated:
