Best Foods at Disneyland:

Casual Dining

Café Orleans –

In the heart of New Orleans square, you’ll be able to find a hidden gem called Café Orleans. Here, you can try a variety of Cajun-Creole dishes that resemble a home cooked meal straight from Louisiana. Try the delicious Pommes Frites, N’awlins Gumbo, Bourbon Street Chicken and even the famous Monte Cristo Sandwich. Plus, they have quality kids meals too. Children can choose from Shrimp and Grits, Macaroni and Cheese or one of the Chef’s Specialty Beef, Chicken or Fish kids’ meal. To top it all off, end your meal with a delicious Mickey-shaped Beignets. I promise you won’t regret it! The beignets alone are some of the best foods at Disneyland.

Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante –

In Frontierland, you can find one of the most delicious Mexican restaurants at the Disneyland Resort. Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante offers a variety of classic Mexican dishes like Enchiladas, Tacos and Burritos served with specialty rice and beans. Not only do they offer delectable kids’ meals here, but you can also take advantage of their toddler meals for the little ones too. But, Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante is more than just your typical restaurant. Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante is actually the place where Doritos were invented! In the early 60’s, the restaurant was named Casa de Fritos and was owned by the Frito Lay company. Instead of throwing out the scraps of tortillas that weren’t used, the chefs wanted to re-purpose them into a flavorful chip. These chips gained a lot of popularity and thus, the rest is history. So if you eat here while at Disneyland, you’ve been to the restaurant where Doritos were invented!

Stage Door Café –

Whether I’m at Disneyland or at home, there is one thing I ALWAYS crave; a Disneyland corn dog. While they are equally delicious no matter where you buy them at the park, there is one location that I always go to. The Stage Door Café is located next to the Golden Horseshoe in Frontierland and serves a variety of American fare. Here you can get Chicken Tenders, Chicken Fried Steak, a Grilled Chicken Spinach Wrap and of course, a Hand-dipped Corn Dog. Not only is this location less expensive than the others, but you can choose to get fries as a side instead of apples or chips. To top it all off, you can indulge in a Berry Funnel Cake that will be sure to beat out any other that you’ve had before.

Jolly Holiday Bakery Café –

At the end of Main Street U.S.A., you’ll be able to find the Jolly Holiday Bakery Café. If you’re looking for lighter fare, then this is the spot for you. The Jolly Holiday Bakery specializes in sandwiches, soups and salads. You can try an Artisan BLT on Ciabatta, the Grilled Chicken and Sun-dried Tomato Caesar Salad or chow down on the Jolly Holiday Combo with includes a Toasted Cheese Sandwich with Tomato Basil Soup. While you’re here, make sure to try the Raspberry Rose Macaron. This delicious treat is a Mickey-shaped macaron filled with raspberry filling and dozens of real raspberries. Don’t be fooled thinking that this treat is big enough to share. It is so good that you’ll want the entire thing for yourself. And you may even be tempted to get another!

Deluxe Dining

Minnie & Friends Breakfast at the Plaza Inn –

If you’re looking to have an extra special experience with your kids while at Disneyland, make sure to do the Minnie and Friends Character Breakfast at the Plaza Inn. Here, you’re able to dine with your favorite characters while eating a delicious buffet meal. While it may not be among the best foods at Disneyland, it is 100% worth the experience. And it’s the only character dining inside a park. The characters come to your table directly, so you don’t have to worry about waiting in line to meet characters while you’re in Disneyland. Plus if you make a reservation at Minnie and Friends early enough, you can get into the park before it even opens! Character dining is a unique dining experience that you and your little ones will cherish forever, so we highly recommend doing this for at least one meal.

Blue Bayou Restaurant –

If you’ve ever ridden Pirates of the Caribbean, you might have noticed a restaurant located inside of the attraction. This restaurant is called the Blue Bayou and is sure to be the most unique dining experience you’ve ever had at the Disneyland Resort. Here, you can dine on a delicious meal while watching guests on the attraction go by. They offer a variety of dishes like Jambalaya, Bone-In Rib Eye and Crème Brulee for dessert. If you’re looking to eat some of the best foods at the Disneyland Resort, make sure to consider the Blue Bayou Restaurant.

A good way to do the Blue Bayou is to make a reservation for one of their dining packages. It includes a three course meal and premium viewing for the nighttime show. Right now you can purchase Fantasmic! dining packages, which are awesome.

I wasn’t able to get a picture the last time we ate here because we were juggling three small kids. But, my cute co-worker shared this picture from her visit so you can get an idea of the ambiance. My kids were amazed that we were eating inside, but it looked like outside AND we were eating during the day, but it looked like night. Their minds were blown!
