UFO Paper Plate Craft

Check out our UFO paper plate craft, isn’t the handprint alien just adorable? Hi everyone! Shauna here, from Ella and Annie blog. We wanted to give you another fun craft for the Mother Hen solar system week! This craft is appropriate for kids of all ages but LOVED by kids pre-k to kindergarten. I bet you already have most supplies on hand, here is what you need:

• White and Black Acrylic Paint, mix to make gray
• White Paper Plates
• Glitter Paint or Glue + Glitter
• Construction Paper
• Scissors
• Glue
• Googly Eyes
• Sharpie

If you have gray paint, great! If not, mix white and black paint to make gray. Cut the white paper plate in half and paint the non-glossy side.

Once the gray paint has dried, paint over it using glitter paint. Another option is to lightly paint glue over the paint and sprinkle with glitter. Shake off any excess glitter and let dry.

While the paper plate is drying, have each child trace their hand on green construction paper. Next, cut a black circle that is slightly larger than the handprint. I just grabbed a bowl that looked the approximate size and we traced around it. Cut both the handprint and circle out. Glue the handprint to the circle.

Using green glitter glue and a paint brush, paint glitter onto the hand and black circle. Let dry.

Add self-adhesive googly eyes in various shapes to the finger tips. Draw a silly smile with a black sharpie. Another option could be to draw the eyes onto the alien with different colored markers. We took a large circle punch (1 1/2″) and punched out 3 blue circles from construction paper. Using white glue, glue each blue circle onto the UFO. I recommend using white glue as opposed to glue sticks. We found that the glue stick glue does not stick very well to the glitter (just a heads up!).
