Five Ways to Surprise Your Family with a Vacation

If you have a vacation planned and aren’t sure how to surprise your family, keep reading. In this post, I’ll share five ways to surprise your family with a vacation this Christmas. The best part? They’re easy and cost-effective, so anyone will be able to quickly put them together.

Balloon Pop Surprise

What kid doesn’t love giant balloons? The balloon pop surprise is one of the most exciting ways to reveal that your family is taking a vacation to Hawaii. However, if you want to change the destination, feel free! Any of these surprises can be customized to your family.

To create the balloon pop surprise, you’ll need balloons, paper letters, pin and pin cushion and a balloon surprise note. You can visit our blog by clicking here to download each of the printables. Once you have all of the supplies ready, you’ll first want to create the letter that spell out where you’re traveling on vacation. We used Hawaii, but you can create your own if you’d like.

Once the letters are printed out, you’ll want to cut each letter and insert it into a separate balloon. Next, fill all of the balloons with air and place them around the tree. The more balloons you have, the better!

Last, you’ll want to print out the balloon surprise note and pin it to the pin cushion. Then, on Christmas morning, each of your children can grab a pin and start popping! Once all of the balloons are popped, they’ll need to put together the letters to find out where they’re headed on vacation. This vacation surprise makes Christmas morning loud, crazy and exciting!

Cruise Vacation Printable

If you’re sailing the seas this Christmas, be sure to check out our Christmas cruise vacation printable. You can visit our blog to download the printable or you can create your own. Once you’ve downloaded the template, you’ll want to cut it out and make it into a card. We recommend using card stock paper, however, any type of heavy paper will work.

The cruise vacation template is tropical and fruity, which is why we paired it with watermelon candies. However, you can choose whatever candy your family likes best. You can either place the small card with fruity candy in a box that they open, or you can create a poster and give several fruity-themed drinks and treats. No matter how you choose to do it, we’re in love with this adorable printable!

Disneyland Puzzle Surprise

If your kids love puzzles, then this vacation reveal is just for you. While it might sound intimidating to create your own puzzle, we promise it’s not! All you’ll need is paper, scissors and a sticky foam page. We’ve created a couple of templates that you can find here, but you can always create your own if you’d like.

First, you’ll want to print out a paper with your surprise message. Next, you need to peel the back off of the sticky foam page and place it onto the paper. This can get really sticky, so try to be careful when doing it.

Next, you’ll want to place the puzzle template over the foam. Use a ballpoint pen to trace the puzzle onto the foam and then cut out each puzzle shape. Now, you can either place the puzzle pieces throughout your house or wrap them in different presents. No matter what you do, you’re sure to get an awesome reaction once the last piece is placed!

Hogwarts Letter Vacation Reveal

If you have any wizards or witches in your house, then you’ll want to check out our Hogwarts vacation announcement. First, you’ll want to download our Hogwarts Letter printable for your Universal Studios Hollywood or Universal Studios Orlando vacation. Additionally, you’ll also want to download our Hogwarts Express tickets for either location as well. Once these are downloaded, you’ll want to print off one Hogwarts Letter and multiple Hogwarts Express tickets (one for each member in your family.)

You can keep this reveal as simple as just folding up the letter and tickets or pairing it with Harry Potter books or gear. Whatever you choose, your young wizards will have a magical vacation!

Frozen Invitation Letter to Disneyland

If you have any Frozen fans in your house, you won’t want to “Let Go” of this charming vacation surprise. What princess or prince wouldn’t want to receive an invite from the sisters of Arendelle? For this simple reveal, you’ll want to download the letter from Elsa here. Once you’ve downloaded it and printed it, you’ll want to pair it with a Frozen-themed gift. Whether it’s an Elsa or Anna dress or an Olaf plush, your kids are sure to give you “warm hugs” as a thank you for taking them to Disneyland!
