Amana Washer & Dryer Review and GIVEAWAY!
Happy New Year 2013!! We hope you had a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful holiday season with your loved ones! Us Crafting Chicks decided to take a few weeks off for Christmas break and will resume normal posting next week, but I am popping on here today to share an incredible giveaway!! A great way to start the new year off, right?? 🙂 
Last month I was thrilled to be sent a new high-efficiency washer and dryer pair from Amana to review as part of a campaign with TodaysMama.com–this was super exciting for me especially because we’d had our washer and dryer set since we first got married and they were tired. 😉 I was eager to see the difference in how much more energy efficient they’ve become over the past 12+ years and and what options were available nowadays. Plus I was hoping they would magically make me fall in love with doing laundry. Uh, maybe definitely, that last part was wishful thinking, ha! But truth is, I have been very happy with my Amana set for the past several weeks and I wanted to share some info and what I love about my new washing machine and dryer! And then we’ll chat about a giveaway. 😉 
The Amana® 3.6 cu. ft. High-Efficiency Washer with Stainless Steel Wash Basket is a high-efficiency top load washer.
- I’m still a fan of the top loaders because I like being able to add extra clothes in while I’m soaking my laundry.
- I’m happy that it’s ENERGY STAR® qualified–helps conserve natural resources and save money on our utility bills.
- A selling feature for me on this model is that it uses a low-water wash system—optimal cleaning with as little as 13 gallons of water. What is so cool about this machine is that you put the detergent in first, then your clothes, and then when you press START it senses how large (or small) the load is, and adds water accordingly! So smart. I’ll admit, we had to get used to the new sounds and clicks this washer makes, it’s pretty different from our old set. But we really like it!
- It has a stainless steel wash basket which resists scratches and rust to help prevent snags and stains on fabrics.
- I love how large the basket is. It doesn’t have a middle part sticking up which lets me get more laundry in at once.
- I also appreciate all of the options. Like the “bulky items” option is great for washing sheets and comforters, or loads of jeans. I like the “cool darks” and “cool lights” options too along with the “extra rinse”.
- The cycle status makes it easy to see where it is in the cycle. I can pause the cycle or start over whenever I want.
The dryer is an Amana® 7.0 cu. ft. Traditional Dryer with Interior Drum Light, available in electric or gas models.
- This dryer definitely can handle large loads–this is something I noticed from the get-go and I love it.
- A favorite feature is the interior light! Makes such a difference when unloading the laundry and I never realized how much I missed it before! No kidding!
- It has automatic dryness control sensors that monitor the temperature—automatically stops when fabrics are dry to help reduce shrinking.
- This dryer dries our laundry much faster than our old model.
- There are many different drying options–automatic dry, timed dry, air dry. You can choose low, medium or high heat as well.
Bottom line: I LOVE this washer and dryer set from Amana. While I still don’t particularly enjoy doing laundry, I have definitely noticed an improvement in efficiency and the cleanliness of our laundry. Perhaps at least that’ll help me in my resolution to not leave clean laundry in the laundry baskets for weeks on end. 😉 Thanks, Amana! Now, for the exciting giveaway!! My laundry is currently “in flux.” I started a load last night and need to move it to the dryer. Then, I am pretty much caught up, once i do sheets and towels.
Is it ever “all done”? I am just happy when the hamper is buried. I probably have 6 loads to do right now.
I was waiting for the outside temp to get above freezing before I started my laundry for the week. I am now 3 days behind and the dirty laundry is building up.

I had every intention of catching up on laundry on my days off during the holidays when my washer decided to act up. My washer and dryer are both hand-me-downs from generous family members, but I’m not quite sure how old they are. So to answer your question, unfortunately, not done like I was hoping it would be.

You have NO idea how much I could use a new washer and dryer. My washer (which is an Amana) does a fantastic job, my dryer on the other hand doesn’t dry so well so my laundry room looks like I don’t even own a dryer – Clothes are hanging to dry EVERY WHERE

I haven’t done laundry since before Christmas! Luckily my kiddos got some new clothes for Christmas to wear back to school today, otherwise they would be wearing their PJ’s!

With 3 little, messy boys, the current and forever state of my laundry is PILED UP HIGH!! Ahhhh it never fails… I can do 5 loads of laundry sometimes in a day and there’s always leftovers needing washed 🙁 My husband and I both agree we need two washers and dryers lol.

I would love to give this set to my parents who are in desperate need of a washer and dryer that actually work. Their washer must be run several times to drain all the water and the dryer can only run on fluff. Plus the added bonus of it being a top loader, they would love it!

I just had wrist surgery almost two weeks ago and have had a cast on and not been able to use my hand much so my laundry is stacked high! Hopefully tomorrow will find out if the cast can go and a splint used instead so I can start doing more, like the laundry lol.

I love the fact that the washer is top loading. I have read many reviews about HE front loaders not being the “best” out there because they start to smell once the cycle starts, that’s it. Thanks for the opportunity!

It never seems to end!!! I’m always backed up on laundry. And my geriatric washer and dryer are on their last legs!! One by one, the features keep dying and I have fewer and fewer options!! My husband and I were just admiring a set of these in the store a few days ago (wishing we could fit purchasing a set into our budget). The dryer we currently have is really old and has to be run multiple cycles before the clothes come out dry. I do laundry every Monday, but with a household of 5 soon to be 6 it piles up fast. I made a sign this past fall “A load a day keeps Mt. Washmore away” …. I haven’t been very good at keeping Mt Washmore away since the Christmas gifts for a 2 and 1 year old have been a lot of pink clothes!
I live alone, so I do laundry whenever I accumulate enough items for any particular load. It’s not very economical to do a bunch of small loads. So, I guess my answer is, all done.

I’m like you – I’ve had my W&D for over 12 years now and would LOVE new ones. I like the top loaders also since I always start a load and then find something along the way that I want to throw in. My mom is a raving fan of Amana and I’d be in heaven with a new set!
Laundry….some day they will find me facedown in a pile of laundry. Constantly hanging over my head. At this exact moment my laundry is all clean and folded and almost all put away. The baby’s clothes had to be stuck in a basket instead of put away last night because she was in bed and NO ONE wakes the baby! 🙂

My laundry status is a nightmare. We nought a brand new set of front loading washer / dryer not 2 years ago. And on December the 28th my washer broke. I had purchased the 4 year extended warranty from lowes when I bought it. After calling them I have to wait until January the 14th for the repairmen to come fix it. Their are 4 folks in this household. I normally have to do at least one load every day sometimes 3. As it is nothing for my daughter to go through 3 outfits a day. So My laundry is a nightmare at thsi point. I plan to borrow my sisters washer tomorrow to get caught up hopefully. Now I have not been satisfied at all with my front loader. I think the clothes do not come as clean. My whites seem to be getting dingy. As their is no option of a soack cycle. When my washer dies for good and I have to buy another one . I never have the laundry all done. Too many people wearing too many clothes for our small washer to handle.

Our laundry is mostly washed and dried. Probably have about one load. The issues are the folding of the laundry! It’s the worst part. And we only have a washing machine, so we are waiting until we have all of the clothes washed to head to the laundromat to dry and spending so much money on drying. I need a washer/dryer. Haven’t had either in a long time. With a family of 7 it is a bear to haul all that laundry to the laundromat every few days… I did buy a refurbished washer/dryer set, that wasn’t so refurbished…. and the first time I used the washer it flooded my house & now we are in the process of replacing all the flooring……

The laundry is a small hill right now. We just returned from vacation.
I would love to win this for my parents they have never owned a set. I remember walking to the laundromat once a week with my mom. Now that they are getting older I really hate the thought of them having to ride the bus to and from the laundromat. If anyone ever needed a new washer and dryer at the present time, it’s me. My washer completed quit. I bought a used washer that I HATE. Then my dryer just stopped. My husband took it all apart and clean it up and put it back together, but I’m nervous and will only use it when I can keep an eye on it. Oh yeah, I need this new set.

The washer and dryer we have is probably older than me! It takes our dryer at least 2 hours to dry a load of clothes… 3 if jeans! Gah! We’re newlyweds so a new pair isn’t exactly in the budget as we’ve both switched jobs recently. This is a great opportunity!!

For Christmas my husband gave me a year of spot treating our laundry, so we’re currently pretty close to caught up with washing. Folding is another story . . .
My laundry status is good! I only wash once a week…on Fridays (unless we have something unexpected come up or traveling to do). Then I do 3-4 loads, & that’s my job for the day!

Laundry for 7 is never ending. We currently have a load finished in the dryer, some ready to be folded, and some folded but not put away yet.
I have a few piles that need to be washed.
It’s pretty well controlled. I do all my wash on Sundays.
Oh Mercy this would be rockin awesome! Ok maybe that sounds a bit over the top but it would be soooo nice to have a washer that doesn’t leak all over the floor. Thank goodness hubby “fixed” it. Oh bless his heart. He doesn’t see any issues. That boy!
