Is your Valentine an Oreo lover? Then we highly recommend making Valentine Chocolate Covered Oreos!Chocolate Covered Oreos

Chocolate Covered Oreos

How do you make milk’s favorite cookie even better? Cover it in chocolate! My sister gave these out as her Valentine’s last year and I’ve been on a hunt for a cookie mold of my own ever since.oreo1

Turns out they’re not hard to find, I found this one at Hobby Lobby by their other Valentine baking things. You can also buy the colored candy melts, but I went with white and dark cocoa. That way I can color the white to be any color I want and won’t be limited to only red or pink later.

You could use real chocolate instead of the candy melts, but then you’d have to worry about tempering the chocolate so it didn’t bloom. The melties are easy to use.oreo4

Instructions

Step 1 :: After you’ve melted and colored your white melty’s pipe it into the mold using a ziploc bag with the end snipped off.

Step 2:: Use a toothpick to spread the chocolate around to cover bare spots and get rid of air bubbles.

Step 3:: Fill the mold 2/3 full with chocolate to cover the cookie with and tap on the table to eliminate air bubbles.

Step 4:: Add the cookie. I found that slightly twisting the cookie helped to cover all of the sides.

Refrigerate until firm and then un-mold!Chocolate Covered Oreos

Would your Valentine love receiving a box of Chocolate Covered Oreos?

If you’re feeling even more devious, you can pipe extra chocolate on the back. No such thing as too much chocolate, right?

I think I’m making these tomorrow (with vanilla Joe Joe’s) while I babysit. I think the 5 year old would love making these for her mom and dad while little sister sleeps. Yum!

So I went to Hobby Lobby on my lunch break and saw them, and had to get the mold. All of their V-day stuff is 30% off too so that was pretty neat 😉

The red stuff is just white chocolate meltys that I colored red.
