Daisies on Denim
This post is sponsored by Michaels. All opinions are my own.
I have a secret. I love hand stitching. I think that’s why I loved this Daisies on Denim project so much!
I haven’t hand stitched since my fun Tree Ornaments and don’t do it as often as I would like. So when I saw this fun denim canvas at Michaels, I snatched it right up so I could stitch away. I love using different textures for the background of my stitching. It adds so much to the piece.
So here’s how you can make your own in minutes.
You’ll need:
- Denim canvas–available only in Michaels Stores.
- needle and embroidery floss, the green is 701, and the pink/red is 891
- Martha Stewart Craft Daisy Flower stickers, found at Michaels
- You can also use a fabric marker or pencil. I don’t really use these, I just freehand it.
Start by adding your daisies where you want them. Remember using an odd number is usually the best way to go.
Start off with a back stitch for the stems of each flower. They don’t have to be perfectly straight. I like the whimsy of them being off slightly.
You’ll be done with that pretty quickly.
Now I loved the way it looked without a saying. But just to be adventurous, I added “think happy,” across the top.
I’m sure some of you will think it looks better with the text and others will like it without. That’s what’s so fun about stitching. You can do what you like and make it your own.
I love how the daisies just lift off the denim.
It gives this project such dimension. I LOVE it!
Here are some other fun ideas on how to use denim from other Michaels Makers!
Daises, always make me happy; I love daisies!! Your stitch project is beautiful.
