Looking for a simple and delicious bar cookie recipe? These have a soft and creamy chocolate center surrounded by a slightly chewy oatmeal cookie. So good!  They are practically a chocolate filled blondie. And that is a winning combination my friends. They’re called Dream Dessert Bars because you’ll be dreaming about them for days!

Dream Dessert Bars

1 cup butter
2 eggs
2 cups brown sugar
2 Tbs. vanilla
2 1/2 cup flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
3 cups rolled oats.

In mixer, cream butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Then add the flour, soda, salt, and rolled oats. Place two-thirds of the mixture in a greased 9 x 13″ pan. Press down.

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 can sweetened condensed milk
2 Tbs. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp vanilla

Melt chocolate chips and butter. Add sweetened condensed milk, salt and vanilla. Pour chocolate mixture over oatmeal dough and spread. Drop pieces of the remaining dough on top of chocolate layer. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes. Let cool completely before cutting into bars.

Take it to a gathering, or deliver to neighbors because you’ll want to eat the whole pan!
