How to Make Slime!::Kids Craft

Most of my time has been taken up by this sweet face!

Isn’t she cute?!?

I figured it was about time that my older girls get some time with mommy. I wanted to make some play-dough but decided to make this slime when I found the recipe in my grandma’s cookbook. I’ll share it with a warning: this is really, REALLY messy stuff, but my girl’s loved it and had a blast. I would suggest aprons and an outdoor location or at least cover your area in plastic in playing.

Okay so to make the slime you need:

1/2 cup of cornstarch
2 cups of water
food coloring

Mix the cornstarch and water in a sauce pan and bring to a boil stirring constantly.

Once it looks smooth and has thickened move it off the burner and let cool to room temp.

Once it is cool spoon out for the kiddos to play with. Sit back and feel like a rockstar mom cause you made something fun and messy for your kids to play with.

What fun kid recipes do you have?

  1. Ew Gross! Or as my almost 6 year old would say “Wow Mom! That’s Awesome! Can I slime my brother?”
    Oh yea, I am totally going to become mother of the year in my boys’ book!
    Thanks for sharing…I think. lol

  2. I make this with my third graders- except I call it Oobelek-it’s a great science experiment! We read Dr. Seuss’s Bartholomew and the Oobelek. My recipe is a little different, though- two cups cornstarch to 1 cup water. It has properties of a liquid and a solid- very cool!

  4. When do you add the food coloring? Does that go on before it boils or while it’s cooling? Thanks, this looks like a lot of fun 🙂
