I decided to go pretty literal for this project. When you read the meanings for the actual ’12 Days of Christmas’ song, you’ll see that the 6 Geese of Laying is actually meaning the 6 days that God took creating the Earth. I bought this globe about 6 months ago at Home Goods with the intention of making it great and I knew this would be the project for it. The good news is is that you can make this as small or as large as you want and gift it to others.

I started off with Martha Stewart’s new home decor paint in Charcoal and did a rough outline of all the continents. I didn’t worry about the smaller islands or countries, I just wanted a larger, general shape. I gave the ‘ocean’ a good 2-3 coats. I then did the same thing with the actual continents but in the color Wedding Cake and used a finer brush to do the outline. This one took more coats because of the color.

Once that was dry, I took some wax from Country Chic Paints and buffed it on to get rid of the matte finish. You want it to be rubbed on enough so that it is not sticky or greasy. I then took Martha Stewart’s silver gilding paint and outlined the continents again to make them a little bit more refined. I then hand lettered each of the continents names with the same gilded paint. I would first use pencil and lightly mark what you want your words to look like.

Simply, this is how I wanted this project to turn out and it was easy. It was time consuming however. From start to finish it took about 4 hours. It’s definitely one that you can keep up year round and it’ll look great with every holiday decor. I love how scrapbook companies are making cards already completed that you can just add a simple sticker and it looks like you spent time on it! These are from Fancy Pants.

I made this table and you can see the post on it here. Thanks so much for checking out this project and I hope that you love it!

    1. Thanks so much! It was a lot of fun to do and you can choose so many different colors to do it in! This globe was $35 at Home Goods and I didn’t feel bad about revamping it. Or even paper mâché a styrofoam ball!
