Guide to the Holidays at the Disneyland Resort 2017

Hey everyone, it’s Kimberly with Get Away Today, and I am SO excited to talk to you about the Holidays at the Disneyland Resort 2017. If you love Christmastime and Disneyland, then you’ll want to be sure to read this article to get all of the insider information you’ll need to enjoy the celebration this year.

The Holidays at the Disneyland Resort officially started on November 10, 2017 and will continue until January 7, 2018. During the festivities you’ll be able to enjoy holiday décor, joyful entertainment, delectable treats and so much more. Plus – with attractions and dining experiences leaving Disney California Adventure forever, you’ll want to be sure to catch everything that 2017 has to offer. Because of this, I’ve created a guide of things you can’t miss during the Holidays at the Disneyland Resort 2017.

Three new things at Holidays at the Disneyland Resort 2017

Cars Land: You’ll be able to celebrate the holiday season at your favorite little town of Radiator Springs. Here, you’ll be able to find new ride overlays on Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl and Mater’s Jingle Jamboree. Both rides will have new décor and cheery music, which make these attractions ones you won’t want to miss. While you’re there, be sure to enjoy all of the holiday décor. I love the tire wreaths, Cozy Cone trees and even appearances from Cars characters in holiday garb.

MaxPass: 2017 is the first year you can utilize MaxPass during the celebration and I think it’s the BEST news ever. MaxPass allows you to make FastPass reservations from your mobile device, which means that you’ll be able to beat the holiday crowds. The new service also includes PhotoPass each day you use it – bonus if you use it for your Christmas card this year! Everyone will love to see how much fun you had at Holidays at the Disneyland Resort 2017.

“it’s a small world” Holiday FastPass: For the first time ever, you’ll be able to get a FastPass for the most joyful celebration in the world! Since this is for a limited-time only, be sure to get your FastPass as soon as you enter the park. This beloved attraction is sure to sell out fast.

Three returning favorites to Holidays at the Disneyland Resort

Haunted Mansion Holiday: Jack Skellington is back and better than ever for the Holidays at the Disneyland Resort 2017. Just like Halloween Time, this fan-favorite ride overlay is staying for the holiday celebration. Be sure to catch this festive attraction with a spooky twist that everyone in your family will enjoy.

Holiday Entertainment: Disneyland always has extraordinary entertainment and the holidays are no exception. With festive shows like “Believe…in Holiday Magic” Fireworks, World of Color – Season of Light and A Christmas Fantasy Parade, you’re sure to get in the holiday spirit. As a tip, make sure to get a FastPass for World of Color – Season of Light and save a seat at least an hour early for A Christmas Fantasy Parade and “Believe in Holiday Magic” fireworks. This will allow you to have the best viewing experience and enjoy the spectacular shows without obstructed views.

Festive Décor: While you’re celebrating the holidays, make sure to get photos by the giant Christmas Tree located on Main Street, U.S.A.. Don’t miss all the new décor that will be presented on Buena Vista Street in California Adventure as well. This is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of PhotoPass when using MaxPass. Be sure to put on your festive sweaters and a smile!

Three things that will be GONE forever after Holidays at the Disneyland Resort 2017

Paradise Pier: If you haven’t heard, Paradise Pier will be transforming into Pixar Pier starting on January 8, 2018. Because of this, you’ll want to be sure to catch California Screamin’ before its renovation into the Incredicoaster. If this is one of your favorite attractions, be sure to get there before it closes forever!

Ariel’s Grotto: Another thing we are going to miss is Ariel’s Princess Celebration. This cherished character dining experience is one of my favorites, so I’m hopeful something similar will replace its spot. However if you want to dine with your favorite princesses one last time, make a reservation before January 8, 2018. Keep in mind, reservations can be made 60 days in advance, and these will likely go quickly.

The Cove Bar: If you’re looking to get one more bite of the famous Lobster Nachos, it’s your last chance. Disney California Adventure also announced that it will be closing one of its most popular restaurants, The Cove Bar. We know it will be replaced with a new restaurant, but no clues as to what it will be. If you’re a fan of The Cove Bar, don’t miss your chance to visit it one last time on January 7, 2018.
