Snowflake Photo Ornaments

This is one of my very favorite traditions. Each year I make homemade photo ornaments with pictures of my children and family. I also add little snippets on the back of what each child is up to…and on the family one, our years’ hightlights. This year I made snowflake photo ornaments. I love them. Simple sweet & silver. I love how they look on my tree. My children love to read the past years’ ornaments. sm snowflake 12 sm snowflake 8 sm snowflake 10

Supplies you need:

Snowflake Ornaments

2.75 inch wooden circles (I found mine at Michaels)

Glue gun and sticks

-Photos and wording printed

Beaded ribbon or string

Modpodge (I used matte)

Steps to make these Snowflake Photo Ornaments:

1. Print photos and journaling circle (cut out in circle shape, I used the wooden circle as my pattern.

2. Use modpodge to attach the photo to the wooden circle. I used a thin layer of mod podge on the top of my photos (let dry a couple of hours)

3. Hot glue photos on front of the snowflake and journal circle on the back

4. Use your hot glue gun to glue down the silver beading (around your circles)

And that is all! So easy and they turned out lovely!

  1. Our chrismtas cards are snowflakes this year…so this is perfect…where did you find the snowflake ornaments?

  2. What a wonderful tradition. All of your ornaments are adorable. I teach preschool and have the kids make an ornament every year. I love the snowflake ornament. It is so cute! Can you tell a few more details like, what size is the snowflake and what size is the picture and where you got your snowflakes? I would love to have my class make these !

    1. A different style of acrylic snowflake photo ornament is available at http://www.ornamenttrees.com. Theirs are 5″ wide with a photo area of approximately 3″. The entire snowflake is clear but you could add glitter to the snowflake edging. Just be sure to cover the photo area first. Then use a spray glue or painting them with water-based glue that dries clear. They have instructions on the site for creating photo ornaments and making a photo tree.

    2. i have bought snowflake ornaments in the past from Target, mine are 4″ (which would be 1.5″ – 2″ picture) and 6″ (which would nicely fit a 3″ picture). i know i see them almost every year. They come in multi packs and are glittery.
