Vintage Apron Mother’s Day Gift Idea
Today I have a quick and easy Mother’s Day gift idea for you! One of my favorite memories of my Grandma was watching her in the kitchen while she worked her magic. She’d make the most delicious cookies, cakes and pies and I’d watch in awe as she made it look so effortless. Before she began baking, she’d tie a sweet and simple apron around her waist that she’d had for close to 50 years. Whenever I see a pretty vintage apron, I think of my amazing Grandma and those warm summer afternoons we’d spend baking treats together.
For Mother’s Day this year, I wanted to make all the wonderful women in life a sweet and simple apron to honor my Grandmother. I wish I could say I was blessed with my Grandma’s sewing skills but that talent just skipped right over me! Fabric fusion is my friend since I can’t seem to sew a straight line and I really wanted to make cute aprons.
I love scouring thrift stores for pretty linens and I found these lovely tea towels that were perfect for the aprons. These are so incredibly easy to make, let’s get started!
Here’s what you’ll need:
Vintage linens like tea towels or even a vintage pillow case.
Coordinating Ribbon
Measure and cut a length of ribbon to size. Add a bead of fabric glue to the back of the ribbon.
Flip ribbon over and gently press the glue side to the top of the linen. Allow the glue to dry completely.
And here’s the finished apron! What a darling handmade gift to give that’s simple and inexpensive. I’m sure the moms, grandmas and any other mother figure in your life will adore it.
I’m all about presentation with gifts and Mother’s Day is no exception. I filled a pretty blue berry basket with the apron, a packet of flower seeds and some lip balm. Of course you can fill your basket with anything you know the ladies in your life will love.
Wrap up the gift basket in cellophane and attach pretty felt flowers to the top. Aren’t they sweet?!
And there you have it! Sweet and simple yet thoughtful gifts for the moms in your life.
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a Happy Mother’s Day!
I am no-sew kinda girl, so I LOVE this idea! And those felt flowers are gorgeous! What a pretty gift idea!
A girl after my own heart! 😉 I love anything no-sew, nothing like quick and easy, right?!
Thanks so much!
