Tea Party decorations {vintage garden theme}

Last week I shared my simple little DIY Cupcake Stand that I made for a mother-daughter tea party fundraiser for my daughter’s dance studio. Today I’m sharing a few other little details from the party, per some requests. 🙂 Each table at the party was decorated by the moms, with a centerpiece and small gifts for the dancers. I did a table with two of my good friends and all of our daughters, which was a lot of fun. Our theme was sort of a vintage garden theme, with paper and fabric flowers, and a color scheme of pinks, browns, creams and white. I mainly used things I already had at my house, so it didn’t end up costing very much money which was nice!

Here is our table centerpiece that I made. All I did was paint a big planter box I had in my garage with white spray paint, filled it with dirt and moss, and had some fun making a variety of paper flowers and pennants to put inside. I wrapped a big pretty brown ribbon around it to add to the fanciness factor!

I used 2 long wooden dowels to hang the pennants, using some jute string and mini clothes pins that you can find at most craft stores. You might recognize some of the paper pieces from my daughter’s fancy birthday party I posted awhile back. 🙂 It’s good to reuse things when you can! It’s kind of busy, but fun.

I loved using old book pages to make the flower lollies as well as the mini pennants. . . along with sparkly pink cardstock, brown kraft paper and even some doilies, coffee filters and cupcake liners for the flowers!

This centerpiece idea would be fun for a variety of parties, such as bridal or baby showers, birthday parties, or really any holiday or event and you can change out the colors to match. Endless possibilities!

We also made some cute fabric flower hair clips to give each girl at our table. I clipped the flowers to some plain skewers and stuck them in a tin bucket (from Target Dollar Spot!) using some styrofoam topped with a little bit of moss.

At the tea party we had the big centerpiece. . .

and at each place setting we several things for the girls to keep: a framed photo of each dancer in one of their dance costumes (here is my cute Annie! The frame was from the dollar store and spray painted white), their cupcake stand and name tag, and their little bucket with the flower hair clips. It turned out to be really cute and the girls all loved it!

But above all, it was fun to spend some one-on-one time with my sweet Annie girl. 🙂
