I’m A Dreamer Mixed Media Canvas

dreamer

I spent some quality time with my Cricut Explore this weekend. Even though I’ve had it for months, I haven’t been able to play around with it much.

And since it was set up I decided to see what it could really do. I put it to the test with some glittered canvas that I found at Michael’s and some leather to create this mixed media canvas.

To make one yourself, you’ll need the deep cut blade from Cricut, glittered canvas and a wrapped burlap canvas both from Michael’s.

I used Cricut images for the cloud and the stars and the font is Elephant in Trees. It is so awesome that Cricut let’s you cut your own fonts now!

cricut leather

I was most excited to cut leather. My mat wasn’t too sticky (I cut felt out earlier and it used up most of the stickiness) so I used washi tape to help hold it in place. I also found that it worked best to put the smooth side of the leather down and mirror the image so that the images were facing the right way when flipped over.

cricut dial

To cut leather you’ll need the deep cut blade and to set the dial to custom. Which is code word for “everything else you can think of”.

Once you’ve selected “custom”it will have you choose your exact material from the drop down menu. See how’s there are 3 options for just leather!

And look how smoothly those letters cut out! Like butter. That would take me forever with a pair of scissors!

Once everything is cut out, just attach it to the burlap canvas!
