Sophisticated Bridal Shower {tablescape + gift idea}

Hello everyone! (waving my hands like a crazy person)

It’s been quite awhile since I’ve posted here. We went on a big family trip in February and during our trip we found out my father-in-law was diagnosed with Leukemia. Needless to say we have been busy making trips up to the hospital and focusing on our family, not leaving much time for crafting. But I am happy to say that he is out of the hospital and is doing amazingly well. We feel very blessed. So I am excited to be back to creating things and sharing projects here with you all!

Recently my mom, grandma and aunts threw a bridal shower for one of my cousins who is getting married soon. It is always so much fun to gather together with family to celebrate happy occasions—we always have a good time with lots of laughs and lots of good food. My cute mom put together a gorgeous table with such lovely touches that I wanted to share it all with you today! She is one of the most creative people I know (my Dad is pretty creative too, actually!). I’m grateful that they passed down a little bit of the creativity gene to me! 🙂

The color scheme for the bridal shower was black, white, green, red and a dark plum/eggplant. It made for a pretty and sophisticated atmosphere, even though we can get silly and somewhat UN-sophisticated when we all get together, lol! My mom used various cake stands (which I adore!) and glass vases and apothecary jars (the same ones I used for my daughter’s party), touches of damask and fresh flowers too. I took oodles of pictures to show you all!

These strawberries were nearly as big as apples and tasted SO YUMMY!!! I’m still dreaming about those…..

The drink was super simple–water infused with lemon slices and Sonic pebble ice!!! The best!!

Each guest was invited to take home a little jar filled with vanilla salt-water taffy. The jars were found at IKEA and my mom used ribbon and circle punches to create the tags on the jar lids. To be honest, I love candy but I love those little jars even more! 🙂 She stacked all of the jars onto 3 different sizes of clear cake stands stacked on top of each other–it reminds me of a wedding cake. Clever!

We ate and ate and ate. 🙂 We also played a fun game using candy bars to give her SILLY marriage advice (“After years of dating GOOBERS, NERDS and AIRHEADS you finally found your true love……”)–you get the idea.

Instead of gifts we decided to “go green” and give cash to my cousin. Rather than just handing her cards stuffed with money, my aunt and cousin created this money rack!

I think it’s normally a plant stand but they adorned it with fun ribbon (check out that green and white zebra ribbon!) and some metal initials, with ribbon-covered mini clothespins to attach the bills.
