Bookmark for Mama
I have been a bookworm this summer. I have read so many great books and can’t tear myself away from Mockingjay currently. It seems that I use whatever I can find as a bookmark. An old receipt, a candy wrapper, a tissue (not a used one though). Please tell me I’m not the only one who does this. I decided enough is enough. Mama needs her own bookmark. So here’s how you can make your own Bookmark for Mama
I just traced a pattern with my popsicle sticks onto the paper and cut it out. I didn’t worry too much about it being nice and straight. I Mod Podged the paper onto the sticks and then sanded the edges. I did another layer of Mod Podge and then inked. Next I got my ribbon and had fun.
With one, I cut a hole in the center and ran my ribbon through it. (I would suggest using a drill if you want a nicer hole, but you can’t tell with the ribbon I used.)Â With the other bookmark, I made little chinks in the edges so that my ribbon would hold tight on the sides and then just tied a cute little knot.
I just love these! It’s so nice to have an actual bookmark and not some random thing stuck in my book. These would be great for a fun little teacher gift along with a gift card to a bookstore, or as a gift to a friend inside a fun book.

Have you read “The Help” or “Sarah’s Key”? Those are my new favorite ones I read this summer. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Mocking Jay…I need to reserve that one at the library!

Thanks so much for posting this great bookmark idea! I have a whole pack of those wooden jumbo sticks! I am in the middle of planning my daughters 7th birthday…slumber party..pinkalicious theme…and thought these would look really cute…all pinked up..for the girls..and maybe add their initials. Cute bookmarks! I always recommend The Guernsey Literary and the Potato Peel Pie Society – crazy title, AMAZING book! It’s written in letter style, so it’s a quick read, but you’ll fall in love with the characters.
I still have to read Catching Fire, but I can’t wait for Mockingjay!

Is it funny that I laughed out loud when I read this? I, too, use whatever I can find. Especially seeing how I always seems to have a candy wrapper when I am reading. I love The Hunger Games. You should read The Maze Runner if you have not already. Also, I really enjoyed The Vampire Academy books.
I’ll have to check those books out. Isn’t the Maze Runner written by James Dashner? I use to work with him. I really should read his books huh.
Cute idea! I made some fabric bookmarks last summer that I love, but my supply is getting low because I lose them too easily! I just finished The Help this afternoon and Mockingjay is next on my list. I read The Forgotten Garden earlier this summer and LOVED it! Highly recommend it, it’s now in my top 10 favorite books.

At my dad’s job with the LDS Church, he is over about half of the world. He used to have to travel and stay at various locations for about two weeks at a time. Whenever he would come home and bring little prizes, I would take some of that county’s paper money. I use that as a bookmark. Right now I am using one from Ghana. I like how it isn’t typical, but I really like your idea of using jumbo craft sticks. Thanks

Cute idea. I find that anything thicker than paper makes creases in my book and I am a bit OCD about creases in my books! LOL
I just discovered the Poison Study books. I just finished the series and, very similar to the Hunger Games books, it’s got some magic added to it. I’m hooked just as much on both series. And thanks to all the suggestions the readers here have made to you. I have made a huge amount of holds at the library based on the recommendations!
I was kinda worried that it might be too thick for a book, but it if you find the right sticks, they aren’t much thicker that a piece of paper.

Cute bookmarks! I too love The Hunger Games series.. another series I LOVE is Graceling The second book is more like a prequel and it is called Fire. Both are excellect!! Another great book is These is my words. Happy reading!
