Cream Cheese Brownies
Four decadent layers go into these Cream Cheese Brownies.
Cream Cheese Brownies
These are my husbands favorite, and my mother-in-laws specialty. They are served at all special family events including our wedding reception. Unlike other recipes I’ve seen for Cream Cheese Brownies, which have a swirl of cream cheese on top, these have an entire cheesecake layer on top of the brownie and 2 more layers on top of it.
It takes a little time to get the four layers on and cool in the refrigerator, but will totally blow guests away. The four layers are: the brownie base with the cheesecake filling on top. Those bake for 25 minutes and then you sprinkle mini marshmallows on top and bake for 2 more minutes. Once the brownies have cooled a cream cheese chocolate frosting is spread on the top. Because of the cream cheese in the recipe you’ll want to keep these refrigerated.
- ½ cup butter
- 1 square unsweetened chocolate
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 6 oz. cream cheese
- ½ cup sugar
- ¼ cup butter
- 1 egg
- ½ tsp vanilla
- 2 cups mini marshmallows
- ¼ cup butter
- 1 square unsweetened chocolate
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 oz cream cheese
- 1-2 TBS milk
- Mix bottom ingredients and pour into a greased 9x13 pan.
- Beat middle layer ingredients till fluffy and spread carefully on top of the chocolate base layer. Bake at 25 min at 350.
- When it comes out of the oven, sprinkle with marshmallows and bake for 2 more minutes at 350.
- After the brownies have cooled, frost and store in the refrigerator.

Yummy! That is a different recipe then I have. It has marshmellows!! I can’t wait to try it out.
Thank you Nikkala! These were so tasty-Brian tried one and loved it!!
Could you use marshmallow fluff?
It would totally change the recipe, but you could try it. Let us know what you think if you do.
Thanks!
What do you mean by 1 square of chocolate? 1/4 ounce would be one square.
Are you saying 1 square of chocolate or 1 package(4 oz)?
I did not get the reply
4 oz of unsweetened baking chocolate.
So four ounces of chocolate? One square (1/4oz) does not make a dark/brown brownie 🤷🏼♀️
I think you might want to fix your recipe, 1 square is not equal to 4 oz of chocolate!
I have been looking for this type of recipe, since my favorite bakery closed. I would sit in my car eating their brownies till it was gone. I can’t wait to try this recipe.
Oh we hope it’s just as good as their recipe.
