Reasons Why You Should Stay at a Disneyland Resort Hotel

Planning a vacation to Disneyland can seem stressful, especially if you have never been to the Happiest Place on Earth. However, if you want to have the most relaxing, stress-free and magical experience on your vacation, my favorite place to stay is at a Disneyland Resort Hotel.

At the Disneyland Resort, there are three different on-site hotel properties. Each hotel has its own unique charm and attractive benefits, so you will want to be sure to pick the one that works best for you and your family.

Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel

Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel is sometimes overshadowed by the grandeur of the Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. However, this charming boardwalk-themed, family friendly property, makes it one of my favorite hotels to stay at. One of the best aspects about this hotel is the location. The Paradise Pier is located right behind Downtown Disney, which makes it just a short walk to some of the best shopping and entertainment in Anaheim or to the Monorail which will take you straight into Tomorrowland inside Disneyland Park.

Another unique feature about the Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel is the rooftop pool area with a waterslide. While this is the smallest pool out of the three properties, the California Streamin’ waterslide and rooftop views make it a hit for every family member. You can even rent a poolside cabana suite for an additional fee to make your day in the sun even more delightful.

If you’re worried about the cost of this property, you certainly get the value for your money here. The Disney’s Paradise Pier hotel offers the largest rooms available out of each on-site hotel. While no room type is guaranteed, most rooms at this resort offer two queen-sized beds and a small, twin-sized sofa sleeper. Each room also includes beach ball pillows for décor, which was a huge hit with my kids! I feel like they had just as much fun playing with the pillows as they did enjoying the park. If that isn’t enough, this property is also the least expensive out of the three as well.

The Disneyland Hotel

I may be a little biased, but this is my absolute favorite Disney property. While all of the hotels are wonderful, there is an extra touch of magic that my family and I feel whenever we stay here. The rooms at the Disneyland Hotel are sophisticated, yet still have a classic touch to them that will make you feel as if you never left the park. Each headboard is a grand display of the Sleeping Beauty Castle and will even light up and play “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes” with the touch of a button. The timeless Disney artwork framed throughout the hotel and the towering monorail waterslides at the pool will keep you in awe throughout your stay.

This property is also home to one of the most cherished character dining experiences, Goofy’s Kitchen. This character themed-restaurant will be the highlight of your family’s day. Not only do you get to have a meet-and-greet with your favorite characters, but you also get a delicious meal. My family and I absolutely love the “goofy” pizza creations with toppings like PB & J and mac-n-cheese! There are so many fun food options for both adults and the little ones, which makes it enjoyable for everyone in the family. Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa

Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is the most luxurious of the three properties, with recently renovated rooms and the only hotel located within the resort. The benefits of staying here certainly outweigh the price tag. This is the only Disney Resort Hotel property that has a special theme park entrance. With any valid theme park admission ticket, you can easily access Disney California Adventure Park just a few feet away from your room. This feature alone makes the stay well worth it.

In addition to this, the Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa has award-winning experiences like the Napa Rose restaurant and a luxurious spa. The hotel offers so much for each family member, including the amazing character dining experience, Chip and Dale’s Critter Breakfast. The hotel also has a woodsy themed pool area where the fun never stops.

Extra Magic Hours

There are many appealing aspects about staying on-property at the Disneyland Resort, but the biggest one would have to be the benefit of the Extra Magic Hour. While every guest of Disneyland gets a Magic Morning with their 3 day or longer ticket, the guests of the Disneyland Resort Hotels get an Extra Magic Hour every day that they stay.

The Extra Magic Hour allows guests of any Disneyland Resort Hotel property to get into the Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure park one full hour before the parks open to the general public. Each day is a different park, so you will want to check Disneyland.com or at the hotel each day. This means you get to beat the crowds on all your favorite attractions. Extra Magic Hour is the only way to get into Disney California Adventure early and you will be sure to encounter the fewest crowds. This is especially useful if you want to race on Radiator Springs Racers or experience the brand-new Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! ride. And the best part is, you are still able to utilize Rider Switch. This is how my family and I were able to ride Radiator Springs Racers twice, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree, and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters all before the park even opened! The Extra Magic Hour will save you so much time and allow you to experience everything you love, without a long wait.

Magic Touches and Convenience  

One of my favorite parts about Disneyland is their dedication to the customer experience. Everything they do is oriented around each individual who walks through their gates, and staying in one of the Disneyland Resort Hotels is no different. Each Cast Member will be sure to greet you with a smile and you can even get a wake-up call from some of your favorite characters. Just imagine how excited your little ones will be to start their day when Mickey calls them!

Additionally, a part of the experience at Disneyland is being able to buy souvenirs to remember your magical vacation. After you get your churro and Mickey ears, you might buy something a little too large or fragile to carry around the park all day. In the end, the convenience and excitement of staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel is well worth it. Since you never truly leave, the magic never ends.
