Pineapple String Art
Hello! I’m back with this month’s Michael’s Makers challenge. July’s challenge is to share a current trend in the crafting/decor world. From tie-dyeing to lettering to tassles, pom poms and even unicorns, Michaels has everything you need for the latest and hottest DIY trends!
I combined two trends I’m loving and combined them together to create a pineapple string art!
Years ago, I learned that pineapples are a sign of hospitality and prosperity and I have loved them ever since. I’ve admired string art from afar but never tried it myself.
Pineapple String Art
First, I rummage through the garage and found a board that looked like a good size. Then I “white-washed” it with grey paint that I watered down.
While it was drying I found a pineapple clipart online that I liked and printed it off.
Then, I just laid it on the board and hammered nails around the outside.
Once all the nails were hammered in I peeled the paper off. The little pieces of paper left behind were easily cleaned up with a pair of tweezers.
A small slip knots works great to tie the string onto a nail. I used embroidery floss.
Weave the string from nail to nail to fill in the shape. Tie the string off when you are finished.
Hey look, I did it! I’m happy with the way it turned out, not too shabby for a first try (if-I-do-say-so-myself).
