Alicia here from Sew What Alicia. Summer can be a stressful time trying to find fun activities to do with the kids while limiting screen time! I want to share this fun activity with you that is fun for the kids but also stimulating and great for their brains! You can make these from tons of different materials to make it a fun sensory experience as well!
Supplies:
- Firm Felt
- Foam
- Cardstock
- Magnet Sheet
- OR Any other creative material you can think of.
- Cutting Machine or Scissors and Craft Knife
- Puzzle Template (SVG or PDF)
Instructions:
If you are using your cutting machine (I prefer the Cricut Maker since it can cut through fabric and felt) import the SVG (linked above) and cut the puzzle from your various materials.
If you are not using a cutting machine print the template and then cut one from cardboard to act as a stencil. Use scissors for paper or thin materials. Use a craft knife to cut the thicker material like felt or foam.
Try mounting the puzzle to make it sturdier. You can glue the puzzle outline to a piece of felt or foam to keep it from warping when the kids are putting the pieces together.
For the younger crowd one puzzle from one color is probably enough of a challenge. For an older crowd cut one puzzle from each color of the rainbow. Then challenge them to put one of each color in each puzzle and sit back while they challenge their minds to figure out that problem.
Very nicely explained…..Also you had cut the pieces very nicely…..It’s impossible for me to cut those little pieces so sharply…
