Rocket Skewers

Allison Miller - Guest Post Header

Hello! I’m Alli from Cupcake Diaries and I am thrilled to be here at The Crafting Chicks sharing this fun space snack idea with you today.

My kids are all about snacks. Especially in the summertime! And they were beyond excited when I told them we were going to make a space themed snack. I have three young boys who love everything that has to do with space. (“Mom, did you know that the sun is a star?” “Mom, how far away is Jupiter?” “Mom, did you know that Pluto was a planet when you were a kid? You’re really really old.”) They threw out all kinds of silly ideas when it came time to figure out what type of snack to make. Since they love fruit and cheese like crazy, we decided on these super cute Rocket Skewers.

Rocket Skewers - An out-of-this-world snack that's perfect for a summer afternoon!

I love these little rockets for a few reasons. The first is that they’re full of fruity goodness. I’ve been lucky to have kids that love fruit and beg me for it on a daily basis. I also love that they can help me put these rockets together. The littlest kiddos aren’t able to actually put the fruit on the skewers, but they sure loved handing me the fruit! And I love that this snack is colorful, which makes it tons more fun to eat.

You’ll need pineapple, bananas, blueberries, cheese, watermelon, and bamboo skewers for this snack. I had my vulture children surrounding me while I took this picture. It took everything in them not to grab at everything on this plate.

My three year old has a play group every week and I’m so excited to make these for the kids when it’s our turn next. You can make a whole lot of these rocket skewers or just a few.
