How to Give Your Family a Disneyland Vacation Surprise for Christmas
Hey everyone, it’s Kimberly with Get Away Today here to share my personal favorite family Christmas gift idea – a Disneyland vacation surprise. There are so many ways to do it, but I wanted to share just a few.
The holidays are coming and it’s time to start thinking about what to get everyone on your list. One of my favorite family gift ideas is the gift of experiences and memories. More specifically, vacation experiences and memories. Last year we gave our small kids a Disneyland vacation surprise for Christmas and it was the best! The trick is, you don’t have to travel over the holidays to make it fun or use a vacation as a Christmas gift. There are so many ways to present your family with a future Disneyland vacation surprise on Christmas morning.
To make your Disneyland vacation surprise even more magical, I’ve put together three different ideas with free printables that you can easily recreate. I hope you’ll find out that works well for your family!
Look Who’s Going to Disneyland
This idea is really simple, but it makes a great impression. All you need is a round mirror for each child, colored felt, cardboard and hot glue. A black frame works best, but you can use any color and just match the felt.
Cut out your Mickey ears on both felt and cardboard using the size of your mirror as a guide. Glue the felt to the cardboard ears, then place and glue your ears to the mirror. You could embellish your mirror with a bow for girls, or just leave it plain.
Wrap your mirror as a gift have your children open them at the same time. Have them look in the mirror and exclaim, “Look who’s going to Disneyland!”
Disneyland Puzzle Surprise
Here is yet another really simple, but effective way to announce your Disneyland vacation surprise. Start by downloading our free printable puzzle. Adhere it to sticky foam board. Trace this free puzzle template onto the foam, then cut it out. Wrap the puzzle pieces together in a box and let your kids put the puzzle together. Or, wrap each puzzle piece separately and let your kids put the Disneyland puzzle together one piece at a time. Either way, it’s sure to be a thrilling Disneyland vacation surprise for your family.
Disneyland Vacation Balloon Surprise
In my opinion, this is one of the most surprising of the Disneyland vacation surprises. All you need is a really big box and some balloons. I recommend one Disney character mylar balloon and a number of coordinated colored latex balloons filled with helium. You can print off either of these free Disneyland vacation surprise printable and tape it to your balloon. Then, watch your children’s faces as they open the box and see the balloons floating up out of the box with your big announcement.
No matter how you make your Disneyland vacation surprise announcement, it is sure to be a moment your family with remember forever. And better yet, by planning a future trip, you can extend the Christmas morning magic well beyond Christmas morning with your vacation countdown. Last year our Disneyland vacation wasn’t until April, so we did a Disney themed activity each week to keep our kids excited and engaged. Some weeks we just watched a Disney classic movie, one week we did a Pirates of the Caribbean treasure hunt and another week we made Mickey pancakes. It can be as simple or involved as you’d like.
