DIY Faux Fur Christmas Stockings
DIY Faux Fur Christmas Stockings
Hi there! I’m Lydi from Lydi Out Loud and I’m so excited to be here today sharing my Easy DIY Faux Fur Christmas Stockings with you!
These Christmas stockings were a happy accident that were born from a big cleaning fail turned major crafting win… more on that later. I’ve been loving all of the white faux fur Christmas stockings around but I couldn’t justify buying another pair of new stockings (apparently it’s a compulsion I have!) so I decided to make my own knock off faux fur Christmas stockings. The pair of stockings cost $4 and about 10 minutes to make (including glue gun heating time). That’s my kind of craft friends!
To start, I bought a couple of Christmas stockings at Dollar Tree and cut off the front cuff (but I will hold on to those cute pom-pom’s for a later date!)
Now back to that cleaning fail… I recently discovered that “faux” swiffers from the dollar store do not do a good job of dusting at all, but they make perfect faux fur! 2 boxes covered 2 stockings. I simply pulled them apart and gave them a good stretch so they covered more stocking real estate.
Then I hot glued my “faux” faux fur onto the Christmas stockings. Once all of the faux fur is in place, I kind of “teased” it… think of doing your hair for an 80s themed party. 😉
I fell in love with this plaid ribbon from Michael’s so I decided to use it to make a cuff for my Christmas stockings. I wrapped it around the top of the stocking and attached with hot glue.
And that’s it… easy, breezy and furry!
Thanks so much for having me Crafting Chicks! I’d love for you to stop by my blog and say hello or come hang out with me on Instagram!
These are so clever. I wish I had thought of it.
These are so fun! This would be a great addition to my company’s craft fair. I will suggest we try these. The instructions seem simple enough.
What a great, FUN and economical idea! I really love everything you invent! Keep it coming!
Lydi, these are so cute! And I love the duster trick – I will have to hunt those down 🙂
