Tips for Perfect Apple Muffins

✔ Don’t over-mix the batter
Stir just until the dry ingredients disappear. Over-mixing can make muffins dense or tough.

✔ Dice apples small
½-inch pieces or smaller help the apples soften evenly and distribute throughout the batter.

✔ Fill muffin liners ⅔ full
This gives the crumble room to sit on top without spilling over.

✔ Let muffins rest for 5 minutes after baking
This helps them set and makes them easier to remove from the tin.

How to Store Apple Crumble Muffins

These muffins stay fresh and moist for days, making them great for meal prepping or busy school mornings.

  • Room temperature: Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Refrigerator: 5–6 days.
  • Freezer: Freeze in a gallon zip plastic bag for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temp or microwave for 20–25 seconds.

Make Them Ahead

If you want fresh-baked muffins without the morning rush:

  1. Mix the muffin batter the night before.
  2. Store covered in the fridge.
  3. Make the crumble topping and refrigerate separately.
  4. Scoop into liners the next morning and bake as directed.
