Paris Inspired DIY Cupcake Stand & Tray
Paris Inspired DIY Cupcake Stand & Tray
We love being on the Michaels Makers Team! We have loved all of the themes/challenges so far. This month’s challenge was “Springtime in Paris“…creating a Paris inspired DIY project, craft, or treat. I had so much fun making these DIY Paris Inspired Cupcake Stands and Trays to go with this awesome theme.
When I think of Paris, I think of fancy baked goods. These DIY cupcake stands/trays could be something found in a little Parisian Bakeshop.
Our Readers…YOU…can participate in this challenge too…for a chance to win a trip to PARIS! Details at the bottom, you won’t want to miss.
To Make the Paris Inspired Cupcake Stands You will Need:
-Fancy Shaped Plaques (These are pretty new to Michaels, and I found a big selection) I used the smaller ones for the cupcake stands (5×7 and 8×10)
-Pretty Candlestick (Silver ones from Michaels)
-Acrylic Paint (I chose light pink and blue because that makes me think of Paris)
-Paint Brush
-E6000 Glue
-Fancy Baked Goods to display:)
Only two quick steps to make these DIY Paris Inspired Cupcake stands!
Start by painting the plaques. I left the edges plain. The edges already had a burnt edge look that I loved!
Let dry and then adhere the E6000 to the top of the candlestick. Place the plaque on top centered. I let this dry overnight. Because the candlestick is thin, an even amount of cupcakes need to be on to of the stand.
I made pink velvet cupcakes with white frosting and pink sprinkles. And using the Wilton Candy Melts, made these mini Eiffel Tower Toppings. I found these plastic molds a few years ago at Orson Gigi.
For a fancy Paris Inspired Tray, I painted a larger 11×14 size plaque. This makes an adorable tray. You could even add some knobs to the bottom to add a lift.
You could use this fancy tray as a pretty display for a coffee table or centerpiece. (Flower bouquet and pretty ceramic birds are from Michaels)
